Depends, are you going to be going over a tonne often? What sort of roads do you ride on?
I choose a supermoto style bike because I enjoy back roads, twisty roads and I want to keep my licence
you will have endless amounts of fun on an sm bike. But really it depends what you want out of the bike.

As I say to most people, look around this forum, there are tonnes of 'what bike next threads', write down the list of bikes you have seen listed, go onto google images, look at all the bikes. Cross off your list the ones you don't like.
Then go out to a few bike shops and look at the ones you do like, and if possible go for a test ride, (if able) if not, at least sit on the bike and get a feel for it - distance from seat to footpeg, how long the reach to handle bar is, that sort of thing...
Then make an informed decision based on what suits YOU. ____________________ Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter won't mind - Dr. Seuss |

I do like going over a tonne, saying that i do think supermotos will be a bit more fun, most the main roads round me are shit and i did always find the back lanes fun when i had my 50.
I don't really know many supermotos just because i've never shown much of an interest, what are the good ones to look at? And whats reliable? ____________________ Riding as fast as you can sounds like a good speed to me

Depending on budget really and some are higher maintenance than others, for example a KTM LC4 needs oil and filter change every 3k + valve clearances. You need to do a little research really to see what you like and is within your budget, then find out about reliability, servicing costs etc. I have a KTM duke which is not really a proper sumo but has the same lc4 engine and I've not had any problems. Other bikes I can't really speak for as I've no experience.
Here's a few to get you started
KTM LC4 (625,640) (660 no elec start) (duke, you may or may not like it's looks)
new KTM 690
Husqvarna 510 / 610
Aprilia sxv (amazing bike, but you need big bucks it's a race bike so suitable for the road? I don't know) (Manual calls for new pistons at 5k miles)
New husaberg is nice (I don't know out about them)
other thing is a converted mx bike. Honda xr 600 ?
Depends on your budget really
