Afternoon all,

On the lookout for a new helmet, the raid 2 and arai condor are in my price range.

getting shot of my caberg v2 because it's too noisy, what are the shoei and arai like for noise?

also i like the caberg for it's internal visor, i can't be arsed with carrying two visors so has anyone use the light reactive pinlocks and if so do they do a decent job?

cheers

quik

Can't comment on the lids but I've used a Fog City HyperOptiks insert before and thought it was great.
In normal light it was clear with a slight green tinge to it but when the sun came out it turned a deep cool/cobalt blue Cool .
It never fogged during the winter or bad weather. It was great and I would seriously consider buying another one if the need arose (was in my old helmet).
The only problem I had with it was that after loads of use and washes it started to lose it's adhesiveness (I think I caused this by removing to clean Rolling Eyes )
Obviously the Fog City sticks to the inside of the visor rather than being held in place like Pinlock.

Yeah, I did. There wasn't really much difference, the only thing I can say though is that oncoming headlights starred slightly but not anywhere near enough to bother me or cause any issues.
Like I said though this is the stick on Fog City Hyperoptiks so not sure about the FineVision (Pinlock) Light Reactive Insert.

This is the only place in the UK that I've managed to find that still sell the universal fit ones: https://www.thevisorshop.com/acatalog/Product_Catalogue_Fog_City__Antifog_Inserts_977.html

I've had a raid 2 for the past two years, quite quiet although can be made quieter by using the optional whisper strip which stops wind coming in from the bottom.

On long journeys I still wear earplugs or headphones though.

It's a pretty light helmet, and can be had pretty cheap, got mine for £140 two years ago at the Gmex bike show Thumbs Up

Can't comment on the reactive pinlock I have clear and dark visors both with a clear pinlock insert just keep the spare in my topbox.

My old Raid 2 was much quieter than my current XR-1000. Thumbs Up

Normal pinlocks do this too. It's just the effect of having 2 lens with a gap inbetween.

Yeah, I found my normal Pinlock does this but does it worse than the Fog City Rolling Eyes
I think it's worse as there is a bigger gap due to the thick silicone bead on the Pinlock as opposed to the thinner adhesive bead on the Fog City

I have a condor. I like it, comfortable and light. Do think it is quite a noisy lid though but dont notice with a set of earplugs or mp3 player on though.
Have never tried the light reactive pinlock, just have a tinted one in for the summer and a clear one in the winter Smile

I have the Condor... very comfy, light - but noisey. As above i use earphones and its ok...

I love the shoei lids but they just dont fit me right. Best try them both on.
Shoei gave me a free face lift everytime i took the thing off Smile

I have a Condor, have had it nearly four years. It's very comfortable but as mentioned above, it is a bit noisy. Also you can't remove the lining for cleaning like you can with the more expensive helmets. Has a proper D ring fastening though.

I use a tinted pinlock insert bought last year. I think it is a Fog City. This looks good, but more importantly works well, don't get problems with it misting up when stationary etc. Guy in the shop reckoned that I'd be so impressed that I'd probably get a clear one for winter use. I may well do.
