Hi, Im quite new to biking and recently iv got really interested in the bsb. But im getting a bit confused with the way its set up Embarassed Why is there race 1 and race 2? And are they like a different championship with the same riders? Cuz i saw that one rider is top in race 1 and then another is top in race 2. Iv been looking on the bsb website and i have been reading the rules and so on. Where would i be able to read up on it so i can pass off as if i no what im talking about lol.
Soz for being so green but we all gotta learn somehow Smile

Two races a day, just like WSB. I guess its down to the lack of tracks in the UK.

Reason there's a new pole man in race 2 is due to the new rules they're using this year. Basically the 2nd race grid position is determined by the lap times in race 1.

Yes one class and one winner.

It's kind of like 1st half and 2nd half in football

Points won in both races are for the same championship.

But there is actually two championships happening within the same grid, BSB and the EVO class. Its kinda confusing Smile

So one of the riders from the EVO class will finish say 12th overall but may actually finish 1st of the EVO class racers.

Not true.

There is an Evo class and privateer class also running along side the superbike class, in the same race.

Oh, just seen its already been mentioned! Very Happy

I wouldn't bother reading about it, just watch it...that's the fun part. Oh and each season you will just get used to identifying you favourite riders and their paint schemes, and the following year - their kit will change, so too will the bike livery and everything; so it's best to remember their numbers (because most are superstitious and will keep their number regardless of positioning the previous season) Thumbs Up

Welcome to the world of bike racing...it's fun...and it's a damn sight more interesting than snooker / cricket / atheletics / football, BUT sadly rarely shown on mainstream tv live. Sad Thumbs Down

Which is really annoying considering we have, what? Something like 8 or 9 Brits in WSB this season!!!! Ludicrous!!! Chequered Flag

I think we can safely forget 41 this year.... and probably forever, sadly. Having said that, his qualifying last night was the best in a while.

Not sure if you meant it, but your post reads like you are saying there are three classes. There are two; Superbike and Evo.

This year the Evo replaced the Cup class, which was meant for privateers. Rules for the Evo class are much more strict than the previous Cup class - aimed at making the racing more affordable and drawing riders onto the grid.

The Cup class still exists within Supersport and is depicted with a C next to the rider's name in the results (an E for Evolution in the Superbike class). The upshot is two podiums per race - one for the 'lower' class and then the main class. A rider could, in theory, pick up two podiums from a single race but I doubt it's ever happened.

Haga did alright the other day. Came 3rd and 4th, had an awesome battle with Corsa.

I blame the new manager because the bikes are the same as last year

I personally prefer the build-up at the track, and then watch the actual race on the tv...only because in person, you only get to see part of the track. That said, the atmosphere is electric...and amazing to experience... in the old days when the Ducati's used to come past you could feel the rumbling through your body...ahhhh!!!

The more you watch, the more you will understand. Thumbs Up

I was literally brought up on bikes and bike racing, so have been going to races and watching it on tv since I was in single figures!!! For me it's a way of life, something me and my Dad will happily sit and chat about for hours...

If that was true then there's the answer Wink You can't run one year old bikes and be truly competitive.

Haga's about 106 years old. He surprised me when he lasted the pace last year. I suspect his time has passed and he'll be forever known as the perennial runner up.
