hi all,

Im having a spot of bother with my 125 superdream..

the engine has had a rebuild, and all seems well except when i've put it all back together the gear selector shaft that runs through the engine is solid and wont select the gears, and i do mean solid. Even after i stripped it down again and removed the gearbox it's still solid

Any ideas what i've done?

is the shaft actually stuck in the case?

I'm not sure how you can take the gearbox apart if the shaft is stuck in?

All the gears and the selector drum come out as on lump, then you can seperate them once removed, the selector moves in and out of the casing but is really hard to turn.

I would check the drum and slector forks are refitted correctly? It might be assembled wrong, take apart and start again would be my best bet.

Are you following a haynes manual or something?

yeah best bet would be to take apart and start a fresh, you might see notches on the cogs and selector, drum etc that would otherwise line up. Its quite easy to get carry away from the haynes manual and not realise somehwhere we have gone wrong.

My money is still on the drum and selector forks or the selector return mechasim being jammed, or installed wrongly.

Keep at it, your get there in the end.

Was it ok before the rebuild?

Yeah was fine....i've taken it apart 2-3 times and tried again...it's a pain as you have to split the casing each time...ill try again weekend..
