Actually going to the IOM TT. Viewpoint guide?

I did flick through the other IOM threads but only saw a lot of uninteresting non helpful posts from that grovsner chap.

So...

I'm off to the IOM TT tonight for the first time since i was very young.

Has anyone got a good guide of where things are, where to go and what to see of the weekend? Pits, cafes, corner viewpoints etc.

Haven't been for a long while, due to living 1000's of miles away, so can't help you with the non race related sights.

However, for actually watching the race, I liked, in no particular order, the Gooseneck, Ginger Hall, (good cornering action), Cronk-y-voddy straight if you like flat out, unbelievable, speeds.

It's also worth watching from the grandstand, on the start finish line, you get to see the start and all the pit lane dramas.

Remenber to take a small radio with you, so you can get the commentary if you're out in the sticks somewhere.

Also buy a race program, well worth the money.

"Ballaugh", never watched from there myself, think you'd need to get there early for a space.
Front wheel in the air action can be had comig out of Crosby!
Glen Helens quite good as well!

It's always worth watching from the grandstand at least once, on flying laps the superbikes are going through at speeds approaching 180mph, the pitstops are worth seeing as well. Bottom of Bray hill is also worth a sight, about quarter of a mile from the start / finish, I've seen people turn white, literally, watching the bikes going through the bottom of the hill on the pin and heading off towards Quarterbridge.
There are so many places to watch from, personally I like Braddan Bridge, fast left right and accessible when the roads are closed for racing.
Best thing is to buy a local map when you arrive on the island, and speak to some of the locals or old hands, some viewing points are not accessible during closed road periods so you could be stuck in the same place for hours. The Creg Ny Baa pub has a small grandstand and there is one at Hillberry, prices aren't too bad and both are good viewing points.
Have a look on the TT forum on iomtt.com as there are always threads on viewing points.
If this is your first TT then enjoy, and start saving for next year 'cos you *WILL* be back!

Edit to add:
As Suntan Sid says, a small radio is a must, even in an area with loudspeakers it's often dificult to hear them over the noise, frequency for Radio TT is 1368AM, this year it is also available in Douglas on FM. Programmes available all over the island, £12 this year but packed with info and well worth the price.

I would say Sulby crossroads is a good spot for getting close to bikes. They pop past there at 200mph and you could about touch them if you put your arm out

Personally I like Ramsey hair pin/ Gooseneck, depends what you want. I would suggest moving around and watching from different spots on different days.
