 |
|
Hello
im having a few problems with my yamaha rxs100. Firstly the exhaust is leaking from where the downpipe and the exhaust connect. The manual states 'the sealing ring at the gland nut join'. There doesn't seem to be one in there and i cant seem to find mention of one for sale anywhere, only the one that seals the exhaust at the barrel. Is there anything else i could do to stop it leaking.
Also the bike will start and run ok, but after riding it for a few minutes it will cut out, as if it has run out of petrol. It wont start straight away but left for a few minutes will start and run perfectly.Any ideas? Im thinking fuel starvation, maybe temperature related but i have no idea where to start tbh.
Any help would be much appreciated

sweet cheers 27cows ill give yamaha a call tomorrow . Its got a new plug in it and the HT lead is fine. The carbs been off and cleaned twice and checked float height so i dont think its that but its possible. I think it does have an air leak since i took the carb off the carb off the other day because the revs take a long time to fall(I think this points to an air leak), but it was cutting out before this started happening.
I dont think its heat seizing because the engine will turn over freely as soon as it cuts out, although it has been seized by the previous. I put a new piston, small end etc in it and it seems fine, not noisy, good compression and runs ok(till it cuts out of course )
bit puzzled really
cheers for the help btw

Mines the same as cows, i dont have one in either. When i first got my rxs it was leaking a bit too, i ended up getting some exhaust sealant stuff and its been fine. If you have too much trouple getting a gasget/ring pm your address and i'l send you one. Iv got a couple of spares as they was only 50p each
I dont know why i would be cutting out, do as mentioned before and check the usual suspects

Took the bike out again today and its still doing it . I took the plug out afterwards and it was very wet.
Took the fuel pipe off and its flowing nice and fast.
Carper84 thanks for the offer mate might take you up on that one.
Also its getting harder to start. It never used to need choke and used to start first kick every time but now it needs choke and takes a few kicks. It seems to run a bit lumpy now aswell if that makes sense.
Also it ticks over fine but if you rev it neutral, instead of falling back down to tickover the revs just fall until it cuts out.
cheers for the help ladies

27cows Its funny you should that because when I bought the bike the mixture was only screwed a quarter turn out (manual says 2 and a quarter) I changed it to the correct setting and it made no difference whatsoever . could this be something to do with it.

I changed the mixture screw to 1 and a halfs turns out. The bike runs sweet as a nut pulling strongly but it still cuts out . Only got less than half a mile this time aswell. ____________________ 2002 Aprilia RSV1000R, Cbr600Fs, Mk1 B12, Vfr400 NC30...
