 |

Every day on my commute home from Manchester to Worsley, there is a standstill of traffic on the exit that leads to the M60. Most days I see a biker or two cross the white line into the 'zebra' part of the road and filter past all the traffic slowly.
Like this: https://i50.tinypic.com/v8pp8m.jpg
Is this legal? I've done it a few times and it saves me about 20 minutes, but I'm wondering what would happen if I filtered past a police car etc.
Any ideas? Any one know the area/route I'm talking about? |

I wouldn't filter slowly, I'd filter at speed keep an eye out for shit on the road mind as these are the places you pick up punctures ____________________ Well, you know what they say. If you want to save the world, you have to push a few old ladies down the stairs.

I would too, but I'd be especially careful of someone pulling out to park there (like if they're about to breakdown or something). Although that's unlikely, there will be a higher chance of them not looking as they won't expect anyone to be there.
I'm pretty sure it is illegal too, so look out for the old bill as well. ____________________ A Guide To Powerbands |

Guess that's settled then, I'll carry on.

I did something simular just yesterday, pushing nearly the speed limit with the traffic barly moving and a cop car came the other way,
crapped my pants for about a minute until i realised that the cops would have no chance catching me in the traffic and they didnt even tough their breaks

Here you go, quoted from the Highway Code rule 130:
Areas of white diagonal stripes or chevrons painted on the road. These are to separate traffic lanes or to protect traffic turning right.
* if the area is bordered by a broken white line, you should not enter the area unless it is necessary and you can see that it is safe to do so
* if the area is marked with chevrons and bordered by solid white lines you MUST NOT enter it except in an emergency
[Laws MT(E&W)R regs 5, 9, 10 & 16, MT(S)R regs 4, 8, 9 & 14, RTA sect 36 & TSRGD 10(1)]
I would be tempted to use it if traffic was at a standstill but wouldn't filter past a marked or unmarked car, that's just asking for a ticket.
Don't filter fast unless you're in BUPA, NHS food is shit. |

Traffic at a standstill or barely moving, I use them all the time. .
Just be careful and make sure you keep your eyes on the road, the hatch markings are where all the dirt/massive stones etc collect. . ____________________ "Four wheels move the body, two wheels move the soul."
