... And is there a story behind them?... Also have you ever talked your way out of points?

First Speeding Offence (Got away with it)

Age: 19
Caught by: Local police officer known as "Phantom" in our local area.
Story: I had just installed some Kenwood 4 way 6x9's in my Corsa 1.5 TD, oh yes I was a chav, and was driving about 60mph in a 30. Came over the brow of the hill and spotted him with his speed gun. Slammed on and tried to drive normally with D&B blasting out the car I was bound to get stopped. So decided to floor it the second I passed him (he would have been out of sight), and cut up a country road... Didn't think it through as there were only 2 roads, one was a straight and the other the back road. I thought I'd gotten away until I saw the Volvo T5 catch up to me... "FUCK!!!" ...

Anyway long story short he pulled me, got in his car, started writing the ticket and I started just jabbering on about people I knew etc.. then he said to me hold on are you David the bowlers son??...I said.. yup thats me. I'm the bowler (didn't have a clue what he was on about) and he just tore up the ticket and said don't worry about it. Oh yes.

2nd Speeding Offence (SP30)

Age: 23
Caught by: Speed Camera Van
When: New Years Day

Story: My sister boyfriend was trollied on weed, pills, and lots of alcohol and while walking to the pub, collapsed, and smashed his head against the floor and totally knocked himself out. Got the ambulance and I decided to follow it there. Stayed up with it all the way and got flashed in the process... Bastards.

I have 0 now.

I got 5 for apparently knocking someone off his pedal bike, then leaving the scene of the accident.
He rode in to the side of my car, then I gave him a lift home, so not sure how they worked that one out!

There gone now, as it was about 7 years ago!

Only been pulled over once, that was on the day I passed my driving test (december i.e. approaching new year and Xmas) when I went out for a night time drive and was stopped and breath tested by coppers for driving too cautiously.

Other than that, no points to date although I may be getting some from a red light camera soon Sad .

For the first time since 1992, I'm now clean. Most I had at one point was 9, a mixture of SP30 and SP50. No interesting stories behind them.

Zero now (touch wood)

3 for SP30 in 1994. Snapped by one of the first Gatsos in the country on A4 near Maidenhead. Riding RXS100.

3 for SP50 in 1995. Stopped by traffic car for doing 91mph in a 70 limit. Failed to talk my way out. Riding Diversion 600.

None since then. I have been let off a fair number of times though. My tactic for getting away with it when pulled over is simple. Don’t be a dick. Drop the attitude and give the cops a bit of cheerful respect, even if you have to pretend. It works.

zero, got pulled once in my old chavvy saxo for 'going round a roundabout too quickly' (it was a 40 limit, so i did 40 to take the second exit of a big roundabout.. pfft)

None on the YBR in 18months, even though i tried to annoy cops on it (rode through the middle of them in a 2lane one way system doing 35 in a 30, they didn't bother)

nothing on the CBR either, although i can see one coming soon :p

Been clean since 1985, prior to that I had 10 points consisting of;

IN10, 4 points- lent my bike to a mate who got stopped going the wrong way on the M25/M11 slip road. He gave my name and address to the old bill, then after I found out I made him go the police station and confess. I got done because my insurance didn't cover him and had given him permission to ride the bike.

TS10, 3 points- Crossing double white lines.

SP30, 3 points-58mph in a 30 zone.

Been let off loads of stuff since then, including 80mph in a 40 zone (Aspen Way)and 100mph in a 50 zone (A13), age and arse licking has it's benefits.
