superdream 400 clutch

Hi im put a new clutch in my 400n
but ctwhat does line up the tangs of the friction plates
so that they are level with each other
but when i took the clutch off the tangs was not level so what do i do

that wont be caused by the plates arrangement.
springs, clutch adjustment or plate wear.

I agree, try spacing the springs with washers. I had clutch slip on my 250 single, checked the springs and they were just under the proper spring length, I had a spare clutch with better springs, put those in, fine again. Under normal use plates last ages in my opinion, nearly 60,000 on mine now, I was later advised putting washers under the bolt heads would have done the same though.

Putting in an extra steel plate does the same thing, just put two together.

just put new clutch cable on it and ok work for now

You have the gear lever centering spring out of place. It's behind the clutch basket on the lower left as I recall. The spring is on the end of the long rod that the gear lever acts on and has two legs that should be either side of a pin (working from memory). Take the cover off and take a photo of the workings.
