Hi, haven't been on here in a while and thought I'd come pick the brains of you lot over a streetfighter build I want to undertake.

Essentially I bought a 70,000 mile zzr6 just under a year ago, for 600 quid. Bike has performed flawlessly and is now sat at 75,000 miles. Now, the other week a jock in a van took exception to me heading to a mates to dump the bike in his garage whilst we raced in the NG club event at Pembrey, and decided to reverse into me at a junction. This damaged the headlight unit, top fairing, and fairing bracket...

I've never wanted a faired bike and still don't want one now. I bought the zzr cos it was cheap. I now have the chance (or rather excuse) to 'fighter it with the money the chap gave to me to replace the damaged parts. Obviously I'd need a top yoke with flat bar clamps on it, a headlight unit/fairing and either a new set of clocks or a way of mounting the stock clocks on the bike without the fairing bracket... If anyone has any experience with these issues, please help out.

Bike is a 1991 zzr 600 d1 by the way, original motor and gearbox. Heh.

Oh, and a pic of it before the front end was stoved in by a 3.5t Iveco.

I'm getting a ZZR600D back onto the road. I can't help with the street fighter bits but happy to take some pics as I've just taken the front off mine.

BTW, I'd love to see the results!

zzr's are tricky bikes to make look good as fighters,
that frame brace, is pretty ugly,
and the tail really needs to be changed,
if you are willing to change and alter the tail and subframe,
then go for it.

Aye, i've got the front end off, that clock brace has gotta go. Ordering a mini digi clock set to mount up, got to move the thermostat housing into the frame somewhere too. Have a set of fighter bullet headlamps to go on for now, looks 'industrial' hehe.

nice one,
when i first started doing my zxr h1 fighter initially i used flexible hose for the thermostat and filler

then later i upgraded the radiator to a zx6r one which had the filler and ditched the thermostat completly

Is that the oil filter hanging below the oil cooler? If so it looks a darn sight easier to get at than on my old ZZR6

I'm a spanner for pete carr. Presently we're sat second in the dtr streetstocks litre class, next race is pembrey in july. we were up at cadwell in may, awesome track.

looks as though flexy hose is the way forward for the thermo.
