which earphone

Hello every1. My problem is this: I use a normal tom tom on my bike and I attach a single earphone to it. I fit it inside the helmet by removing the inside padding and then passing it through it.
I also like to use earplugs.
When I do it I can ear the tom tom but as soon as the speed goes up it becomes useless.
Do you know any earpiece which is quite loud?
I don't wanna use in ear earphones cause the ear plugs are much better.
I hope i made myself clear enough.

In-ear earphones are definately the best option, as they are noise-cancelling.

Why don't you want to use them?

I have a pair of shure e2cs which have (IIRC) an SNR of 26. Not as good as good earplugs, but better than nothing.

If you're determined to use a headset your problem is more likely the source, google altoids headphone amp. for a cheap solution

As said in ear plugs are going to be you best option.

I use these and they only start to get annoying after about 75 miles.

I have just brought a whisper kit for my Shoei XR1000 as its a great helmet but very noisy (always wear earplugs or headphones).

Seems to have made a real difference and going along at 70mph is not that noisy whereas before it was the same as shouting level in terms of noise.

This was probably make it more hearable but have no idea what helmet you have and probably only works with shoei's

TBH with earplus in the earphones are probably going to be very quiet.

I have the same helmet xr 1000 and i don't want to use in ear earphones cause I personally think ear plugs are much better.. but that's just my opinion

I have a TomTom, that I have mounted using a RAM.

I set the speaker to 100% and I can hear it when stopped.

What I do is simply look at the bottom left hand corner and it shows me my next turn, way in advance.

Never had a problem.
