Hi Guys,

Picked up this ZX6R from Tubz69 (nice bloke) on here last Monday in the back of the Mrs horse trailer (worked like a charm Cool ).

https://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh163/adam673673/IMAG0023.jpg

Not the most flattering of photos...

Now, he managed to crash it and bent the frame and has been re-building it till he didnt really have the time any more.

So far the bike has:

*New frame
*New bodywork although not fantastic...
*Hel braided hoses
*Gbmoto rearsets
*Full Leo Vince system
*New Renthal Chain & Sprockets (down geared)

Spares with the bike:

*Tank
*Rear fairing
*Standard system
*Remus can
*Ohlins shock (not sure if it needs a service (how do you tell??))
*Front wheel (maybe buckled)
and a few other bits and pieces

Heres a better picture with everything:

https://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh163/adam673673/IMAG0030.jpg

Things to do:

*Front calipers have seized pistons (you can see in the above photo ive already taken these off)
*Strip and clean
*Fit Ohlins shock (possibly after a service)
*New battery
*Possible re-spray depending on cost (Will probably still keep it black and green though unless somone comes up with a nice idea...)
*New bulbs
*New mirrors (current ones are cracked/scratched)
*New flush indicators on front
*New indicators on back
*Check out undertrays or just tidy the rear up
*MOT & Tax
*Ride it!

There might be some other things added such as new levers etc to continue the spec list Wink

So, not really that much to do! Just need to get on ordering the bits i need and start stripping the calipers!

Update later this week hopefully with some better photos!

Depending on when the bike is likely to be ridden (either dry miles, or a mixture of wet and dry), I would be tempted to ditch the 6-pot Tokico's completely and get alternative replacements.

1200 bandit 4-pot nissins or GSXR SRAD calipers are apparently good alternatives.

My stripped/rebuilt 6-pot Tokico's have lasted about 2k miles before binding again Sad

I paid 950 of my finest english pounds which i dont think was too bad, i could probably sell the shock and system and get most of my money back if i was so inclined!

I had thought of replacement calipers as have heard these tend to need a strip and clean far too often but will inspect how bad they are before doing so. Ive also heard SRADs don't have the best of brakes? Are there any other alternitives in this area?

As regards to the paint, the photos probably do it a bit of justice. Im not keen on the finish and theres a few ropey bits. With that there is also little white paint spots all over the bike but they may just pick off... so if the price is right ill get it sprayed, probably gloss black and keep the same decals (ish).

Shouldnt take too long when i finally get started!

Small update:

Gave the rear a stip and clean yesterday and today. As you can see there is a fair amount of old grime everywhere.

https://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh163/adam673673/IMAG0044.jpg

Whilst the rear was apart i thought i would do a couple of quick jobs that i felt would improve the bike. I started with the undertray; rather than buy a new one i cut down the old one further! Laughing Here are the first markings i had mocked up, although i had to change them due to the compartments under the rear seat.

https://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh163/adam673673/IMAG0045.jpg

I Also thought it be best if i hooked up the mini indicators that came with the bike (although they are not wired in yet).

https://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh163/adam673673/IMAG0047.jpg

https://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh163/adam673673/IMAG0048.jpg

I think thats made an improvement! Wait, whats that holding the rear of the bike up?!

https://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh163/adam673673/IMAG0046.jpg

I thought i may as well try the shock out before deciding whether to part with the cash to get it rebuilt or not. It has seen better days so its somthing to go on the long term to do list, hopefully.

I then couldnt resist the urge to have a sit on said shock so i placed the fairings and seat back on and had a sit. Its hard and its high! Which is good, although i am on the short side and am now right on my tippy toes!

https://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh163/adam673673/IMAG0049.jpg

I have a hugger for it too but didnt feel the need to put that on yet.

And here she is getting tucked away in her mobile garage for another night...

https://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh163/adam673673/IMAG0050.jpg

Theres a few things that have caught my today such as the lack of and mismatched bolts so i will be investing in some of those.

Today i purchased a new battery, front indicators and some new bulbs for the front. Still needed are front pads for the calipers im hopefully sorting tomorrow, bolts and new mirrors!

Thumbs Up

Due to wanting to upgrade cars in winter i have decided to break the J1 as its worth more in parts than as a whole!

So, its all up for grabs! Tutton Wink Laughing
