https://www.amazon.co.uk/Toshiba-Satellite-L650-10G-15-6-inch-SuperMulti/dp/B003LJX7AW

Is this a decent laptop? Are there any alternatives for about the same ££ (will rarely be carried around and will sit at a desk for 75% of its life)

I have no idea since I do not keep up with current tech.

My current machine is a vintage 2004 ex corporate refurbished Dell C640 2GHZ 1GB ram, and it slows down considerably when editing video and humongus pictures. The fact that the CPU temp shoots up when doing anything causing furniture to melt is also concerning.

The new machine will be used for exactly the same video editing, photo editing and internet browsing.

Thanks

Looks pretty good, just don't expect the battery to last long when unplugged.

Interesting machine, cept I intend to buy something a tad higher spec and newish so it at least lasts a couple of years, the dell I have was supposed to be top notch when it came out and lasted ages.

It's much better than a 640 mate.

Our company uses nothing but Dell machines (have done for the past 7 years) so we've had them all to compare against.

Thumbs Up

Really? I thought compared to these it was priced about right. The graphics cards in them alone will sell for close to £200.
