Wanting some decent summer gloves

I only usually ever buy the cheapo ones from the bargain bins at bike shows, but now I want something decent that doesn't feel like I'm putting my hand in a tin of barbed wire!

I'm after something that's comfy for road, but mainly track, so light and fits well.

Not really got a budget in my head but I'd like to know what you lot would recomend. I'm looking at Dainese, Alpinestar etc....

What other decent ones are out there?

Alpinestars GP Pro

I'm telling you to get the pros since I ALREADY have some GP Plus's. The feel is another level with the pro's. Differences (other than price) between the GP plus and GP pros.They've got kangaroo palms and are kevlar lined. Cuff sliders get in the way of textile jackets if you're trying to wear the glove under the sleeves, but are dead comfy when worn over leathers/jackets.

I got mine from HG for £120 in white and black. I got my GP Pros from powersportbikes.co.uk for £80 a few years ago and have served me well.

You get used to the sewn pinkie nad ring finger. The PU knuckle vents keep your hand cool on both gloves and they have perforrated finger webs so it keeps your hand cool. Go with either and you're on to a winner. But get the glove fitted on the bike too since you may find the palms too stretched/loose or whatnot.

I also tried on some dainese X-Metal /Metal racers (whatever they're called)... but I cant justify £250 for gloves!

I paid £30 and I've had them about a year and they're lasting well. Luckily I haven't crashed in them so unfortunately I have no idea what they're like in that respect, but I cant see them being any worse than a more expensive glove to be honest. I got those because I wanted something that was light, would tuck easily under a jacket and didn't cost a fortune.

I've got Hein Gericke Pro Sports kangaroo palm gloves. They are immensely comfortable, and I'm on my second pair. I crashed in the first pair at over 100mph at Snetterton and ended up with nothing worse than a couple of grazes on my palm.

I've got some Alpinestars SP-1's. Very comfortable, great feel, well made and feel nice and protective if they are ever needed to be.

Another +1 for the A* GP Plus, albeit mine are the Stella version! Found the fused pinkie finger odd to start with but easy to get used to and they are wearing really well, as now on their third summer!

DO NOT I say DO NOT buy them off ebay unless they are UK shops (don't buy ANY alpinestar gloves from private sellers for £50-£60 for any of these models) - they are FAKE

Wait until HG do their bargain offers and get em. Like I said, try them on first.

Oh, I USED to wear SP2's for my primary gloves (5 years ago) and they were comfortable, but in a different league to the GP series.

If you want ones which are waterproof/goretex, get the 365's. It's effectively a 2007 Gp Pro with a goretex liner. They're the same price as the Pro's.

I'm not speaking because I'm a renown alpinestars tart, but I DO wear my gear in ALL conditions and pretty much 365 days of the year. So I can vouch for paying the extra, having the comfort and feedback and seeing them last.

I'll second the above post on the Joe Rocket speedmasters, had mine 2 years now and still as good as new. Crashed in them and didn't even as much as scuff them, i got mine in the sale for about £50 iirc.

i've got a pair of RST razor gloves, paid £40 for them from J&S accessories and they've been great so far, deffinitely recommend over my previous summer gloves (spada, can't remember the model).

I tried hundreds of gloves but they just felt wrong, either thumbs too short, little fingers too long, palm not long enough, knuckle protection not wide enough, leather not good enough, even the £130+ were tried.
Then I put a pair of RST Moto Pilot size 12, fit like a........ erm.......... glove. Only £70 too, J&S had an offer on. They are a lovely pair of gloves that are just right for ME.
