ok, im no fan of electrics...but this is annoying me.

basically i was going to work today, nearly at work i noticed the clock went off..and came back on.
thought nothing of it.

went to leave work and i disabled alarm, put key in and turned it to on. fuel pump primed and dash checked everything..hit the starter and the clocks went.

went to bump it and it seemed after i "rocked" the bike or rolled it forwards/backwards or hit the brake it allowed me to fire the bike up.

ragged it home, just incase it was an iffy battery, got it home and checked, 12.6v off, 11.99v with key on position (lights come on auto) and 13.90v - 14.14v running.

When i turned the bike off after the ride home it did the same as when i left work.

just went to start it now, 3 hours after leaving it...and its done the same.

main problem is the trip resets, the clock goes to 1pm...and i need the time Laughing

alarm wise i have a datatool s3 i think..

anyone shed any light on this piece of garbage?

freind had a simular problem. bike would bump start fine and we could ride for 30 mins, he would stop, try to start again and the same problem your having would occur.

its the clocks resetting from where there is to much draw on the battery and it cant cope, ie nackered battery.

he got a new battery and all is fine now. (he has the same alarm too btw).

hope this helps.

ive just had the same issue..but i just shook the handlebars and it burst into life.

you've got a dirty connection in one of the block connectors, pull them apart and look for the one with all the green stuff on the copper connectors

Just so you know. On my TT600 when I hit the starter, the clocks also go out, but come back fine once the bike has started. The trip and time does not reset, and there is never any other power 'trips' during riding.

Get yourself some dielectric grease and Cilit bang and clean all of the connectors, then grease them up. Not sure what metal the connections are but Cilit bang works brilliantly on copper.

Then check the battery, and then check the charging system. If you look in the workshop section for a TT600 restoration, I've posted a guide on how to check the charging system on these bikes.

Thanks for that.

By hit the starter i mean, usually it just cranks over and the clocks stay on, now it just kills the whole system Sad

Im about to have a look at the connectors now.
