Does this make sense for downgearing the bike.

At the minute I have 15T on the front and 40T on the back. I have bought a 14T front. Have fitted it, then went back to 15T can't decide which one I prefer.

I like having the 14T, but like having a spot on accurate speedo (measured with GPS correct exactly up to 50mph, not tried any higher).

Am I right in saying that if my speedo is accurate with a 15T on. Then with a 14T on it will read:

15/14 = 1.07 times my acctually speed?

This makes sense as top speed in 6th is 130, but the speedo was reading 140, 130 x 1.07 = 140.

So since most speeds over read by upto 10% this put my speedo about the same accuracy as most other people?

So then my annoyance about speedo inacuracy is gone as it is like before I got the km/h converter so I can go back to 14T sprocket?!

Will I miss those 5mph top speed though?! lol probably not

[The reason my speedo is more accurate with original gearing is because it was in km/h, then when I put the mph converter in it made it spot on since when they have made it they made it so it would convert to true speed.]

What bike is it? Where does it take the speed sensor from? If it's off the front wheel it won't make a difference.

NC30 from the front sprocket. I does make a difference I have had both on before, I had put 14T then changed back to 15T now thinking of going back again to 14T.

Your maths is right. Surprised the mechanical kmh / mph converter made it more accurate.
