Which bike? Front brakes or rear? You say 6 pots so I presume it the ZX6R. Are you clamping the hose near the master cylinder, or at the end nearest the caliper?

Have you tried pressurising the brake system, and then cracking open one of the banjo bolts to let any trapped air out? That's where I got air trapped with my rear brake, as it sits higher than any part of the caliper.

Taking the calipers off, tapping them with something solid but soft (wooden mallet, screwdriver handle, or your hand) and moving them about can help get air out too.

Apologies if I'm "teaching my granny to suck eggs".

Hi

If they are the 6 pots then strip and clean the calipers thoroughly, especially behind the seals. Could well be worth replacing the seals while you are at it.

All the best

OMFG all this shit again, listen up bcf, its tokico calipers, run a google search on them they all do it!

If it is air remove the calipers and clamp off a hose, bleed per caliper but its the pistons getting pulled in by the seals ala "seal roll" its not air, its not anything else, its because the seal seat has worn too much and the only fix is new calipers as far as i see it, my SRAD does this, and sophies zx6r does it, and it fucks me off, i've tried every thing under the sun to no success, tieing the lever over night gives some pressure but soon fades as soon as you pump the lever.

Can't remember the persons name, but someone on here changed the tokico 6 pots on his ZX12-R for some very saucy looking Nissin 6 pots.

Had the same with the 6 pots on my zx9 found it was the dust seals to blame so took them out and put red rubber grease in them bled the brakes again with the calipers OFF the bike so I could turn the caliper around so any air would always be going upwards following the oil ways through the caliper, ended up with one finger braking.

My bro (bacon) did the same on his ZX-7R, they are bandit 12 or GSXR750 calipers IIRC...

And from a bandit, they'd also be Tokico, not Nissin. Double fail Laughing

I meant like these;

fail.... bandit 12's had nissin 4 pots, not tokicos Wink

my nissin 4 pots are the same as those fitted to bandit 12's etc, my exact pair came from an old gxsr 1100 (was this the slingshot model?)

either way the 4 pots are easy to bleed, wont get so easily fucked in winter like the 6 pots, £40 to replace all seals instead of £60, and best of all, they cost me £42inc with brand new pads (my 6 pots needed new pads soon anyway as well as almost all new dust seals)

Cool

Later ones had the troublesome 6 pots.

All the best
