So what's this canister for then? 2 rubber pipes come out of the canister and go into what looks like a fuel pump (obviously it's not) the out of that and into the inlet rubbers exactly as you'd expect from a 2T as the oil feed?
Maybe canister is the wrong word,it looks like a oil tank. ____________________ DRZ-400sm |

Looks like a 4T.
But to confirm, take that silver cover off the top of the engine. Any valves in there and its a 4T...
As to the tank, as someone else said is it a dry sump on the bike ? Again easy to check is there a cap on the top of the engine to pour oil into with a dipstick on it, or a sight glass near the bottom of hte engine ? ____________________ Just because my bike was A DIVVY, does not mean i am...... |

Snowtigeress had the AJS Regal Raptor DD125E-god-knows-what suffix went on for ever, probaby an abreviation for some chinese hyroglyph! 2005 model.
Basically, Chinese clone of the old Honda 125 4T twin in single carb CM 'custom' spec... and woe-fully under-powered and over-weight.
Checked specs on it & it was heavier than a Moto-Guzzi V50! And topped out at an indicated 55mph!
I dont recall there being any expansion tank kind of thing.
It was definitely air cooled and wet-sumped.
Well, I SAY wet sumped....
'sponge-sumped' perhaps! It was a total loss system... GAWD knows where it went.... but it DID!
Never an oil stain under-neath it to belie a leak or pourus casing.
Plugs never oiled up and it didn't blue-smog on start up, or anything either.... Remained a mystery until the day it was nicked.
Motor in that doesn't look QUITE the same.
THAT looks suspiciousely water-cooled!
Whats between the down-tubes infront of the engine?
Looks rather like a radiator to me....
In which case the 'tank' your putting two-stroke oil in COULD be the expansion tank! ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!

Took it all apart today and it definately is a 4T. The small tank which was full of 2T oil is the expansion tank for the radiator
So it's a wet sump water cooled 4t I was fairly sure it was a 4t but the bloke i bought it off had me doubting myself .
All sorted out now anyway. All that's left to do is buy new/bodge old inlet manifold rubbers as they have a split in them then take it for an mot
I doubt i'll be keeping it for long but it'll be a laugh.Online specs get it at 11bhp and 180kilo It dwarfs the 535 virago (bought from the same bloke) and it's about 8ft long
Anyway, cheers for the reply's
