I get some on there occasionally when cleaning the bike, you've just got no brakes until it wears off, usually a few 100 metres. After that you're fine. Laughing.

No reason to do it purposely though?

I do remember doing it in the kart though, 75mph into a 25mph hairpin! I think I needed new pants after that.

No, not on purpose, or in any amount worth worrying about, mostly WD when cleaing the wheels.

Brakes work using friction, therefore anything that is going to reduce it is a bad thing to put on there, mmmmmmmmmmmmmkay?

WD40 on brakes is a bad idea. It made my back brake useless when I was using it to lube a jr. hack saw to cut off my disc lock. I wasn't too bothered about that though.

I once sprayed my brake discs with penetrating oil mistaking the can for brake cleaner but I spotted it straight away. Both cans are the same green colour from toolstation.

Only use brake cleaner on your brake discs.

WD on the brakes is a big no no - got some on my rear brake and it reduced it to nothingness - change of pads were due anyway so wasn't an issue for long but I wouldn't fancy the same thing up front.

Cans of spray brake cleaner should sort it out, I've also heard of people baking their pads in the oven to burn oil/grease off.

Brake pads are absorbent, and they will absorb any grease or oil or lubricant which is sprayed onto the disc. It will not 'burn off' of the pads and it will reduce your braking ability.

In short, don't do it, if you do it on purpose you're a moron.

Anything that says brake cleaner on the front will be fine - just go for the cheapest one.

Yeah, in answer to your original question both ACF50/WD40 are lubricants. WD40 is a fairly crap one, but the gist is don't put any sort of lubricant anywhere near your brakes and if you do wash it off.

The pads also tend to absorb the moisture as well so it can be quite problematic if you actually try to use your brakes after getting lubricant on the discs.
