Hi

I recently filled up and reset my clocks, then rode what goggle reckons is around 27 miles, but odometer reads high 30's? (not 100% what it read but it was definately higher than what it should of been).

I'm new to this biking malarky so apiologies if its something simple i'm overlooking.

It's a Suzuki EN125-2, could it be reading in kilometers?

Hi

Possible. Depends how far out it is. I wouldn't take the readings from Google to be that accurate (ie, presume they are rounded to the nearest 100m for each section, so possibly each one almost 50m out, 20 sections could be a 1km error), nor would I expect you to keep to the route (ie, swerve all over the road and you will travel further), and I wouldn't be at all surprised if the odometer over read by a small amount. If it was 30 miles recorded then I would be inclined to double check on another route if I was bored by not be over concerned. If it was 37 miles recorded then I would want to know what was going on.

Does your speedo read from the front sprocket? Is the bike running standard gearing?

All the best

Keith

First of all it's "should have" not "should of". If your speedo is a kph one and it's been refaced then it will appear to show mph but the odometer will read in kilometers. It'll be fairly obvious if the speedo is still reading in kph as you'll be doing 50 to keep up with traffic doing 30. If that isn't the case then ride for a set distance and see if your odo clocks up the exact equivalent in kilometers by calculating it. It's front wheel speedo drive I would've thought so doubt it's a sprocket issue.

If you did 27 miles and odo is indeed reading in kilometers then it should show roughly 43.

Keith, unsure where it's read from. Will look into it. Standard gearing as far as I know.

Phoenix, apologies for the poor grammar, I'm from Wolverhampton. The clocks are in mph. I'll do what you suggested.

I know that my mileage and my OH'smilage read differently (when we were riding together!) - and I think it was down to him having non-standard sprockets. It's possible that this is your issue - Google isn't fantastic, but I can't see it being -that- far out!
