Got a cbr400rr all standard or very easy to return to standard.
Need to drill 220mm holes in fairings to fit crash bungs?

Is it worth fitting them for the accidental dropping etc even though it meansd drillinh holes into fairings, and would this have a negative effect on value or for potential buyers in the future?

Also what are general opinions on crash bungs?I've been looking at the R&G ones as they seem the best on looking.

Thanks,
Stephen

Sorry for any poor spelling etc just starting to lose my rag tried posting few times but blackberry being stupid.

I have R&G bungs on my FZ1. I'd almost go as far as describing them as "tolerable".

I'd say yes.

The crash bungs will protect the fairings far far better even sjut by dropping it on it's side at 0mph.

They do have bad side effects, but the good points outweigh the bad points I'd say. Unfortunately on my Hornet the crash bung is what caused the big fuck up in the engine Sad

But I'd still have crash bungs, and will do once it's rebuilt Thumbs Up

It shouldn't affect the price as most bikers tend to buy crash bungs I find.

I'd go against the grain and say no, unless they are already a bit rough. Your damaging the fairings to stop them getting damaged.

Even more important if its an older bike with mint fairings as they can be almost impossible to find as i've found with my zxr. Pretty much every panel i've come across on ebay has some damage and i'd pay real good money for a set of perfect unmolested ones.

Emphatically YES!

They saved me and my Hornet hundreds in a low speed tumble. I braked too hard on some gravel and the front washed out... game over. Instead of crunching everything I ended up with a broken rear indicator, a few scuff to the speedo casing (replacement £10 on ebay) and a scrape on the tail fairing.

The bars got slightly bent (and I needed an excuse for some Renthals anyway) but I have no doubt that without the bungs they would have just folded into the tank. The engine casings would have taken all of the rest of the impact and I expect I'd need a new gear lever/linkage and clutch lever too.

Regards

Marcus

While I can see where you're coming from I'd rather have a small hole drilled into perfect fairings and come off with only some tiny scuffs, rather than not having drilled a small hole then coming off and having them completely ruined. Thumbs Down

But I do see where you're coming from. Thumbs Up
