My zx6r has developed a bit of judder on the front brake, I cleaned the discs and the juddering stopped for about 25 miles or so but then came back.

I've been riding it still because it's not that bad but don't want to carry on if it's going to break it.

I'm pretty sure I've got a warped disc, but it did stop for a while when it was cleaned so does anyone know what else could it be?

Warped disc, not sure what else would cause a noticable wobble, maybe a really really lose couple of rivets. Get it on a front paddock stand and spin the wheel and you'll be able to see the warp either as it runs aroudn or by watching the gap between pads and disc.

check your head stock bearings as well see if their is any play in them as this will give a judder when breaking. If there is tighten them a little if that dont work then you will have to replace them.

Not been wheeling av you Wink

Not intentionally! I'll whack it in a stand later and have a look. I only seemed to get it at about 25-40mph

Check that the bobbins are free by using a nut+bolt clamped either side with a helping of penetrating fluid.

Don't forget to clean the disc after in case lubricant gets on the disc.

Disc warpage often only occurs at a certain speed range, logical really as the faster the disc is moving through the caliper the less time the pads have to move into the dips and rises so the wobble on the lever disappears or changes to a sort of vibration rather than a pulsing.

I've only just got around to posting back on here again! Cheers for the words of wisdom Smile

I put it on the paddock stand and it's the offside disc thats wobbling, I think it's from where I tried to ride off with the disc lock on - DOH! Didn't drop it though luckily

Anyway I think it needs replacing, does anyone know if I need to get both sides replaced or if I could just change the one? The one I want to keep has done 14k. I only ask because they're bloody expensive!

Nice one dude, is it 2 wavey discs or one? If it is 2 I definately be interested! I've got the standard ones on there atm. It'd be a bad idea to mix them I think

' Best way for measuring the disc is using a dti gauge, this will detect the tiniest problems.

You sure that's a good idea? Bare in mind he'd be changing a standard disc for a wavey one from jam125.
