Anyone got it?
Is it good?
What speed at peak times?
Does it stay connected?
Do they pester you about your downloading habits?

Sky is crap if you are thinking about switching to them. Well, not 100% true. Sky is good if in a certain area. If out the area sky connect is pants.

The £20 one does but the £25 'extra' one doesn't. I haven't had a bollocking yet and switched to these as I was always getting phone calls from o2.

Who is your mobile phone operator?

o2 and Orange both do decent broadband and if you are already a customer usually pretty cheap as well. I get unlimited up to 8meg broadband with Orange for £9/month. Get 6+meg all the time as well. Thumbs Up

I cannot backup Dischords response any more violently. Stay well away from anything remotely related to car phone warehouse or talk talk. I cannot even begin with a description of the nightmare I had when trying to move to them for broadband from onetel, part of the same company, but as an example, the call center operators could not understand the word 'four' when I spoke to them and somehow misinterpreted it as 'seven' despite me having a slightly educated middle England accent.

Sky have been superb. Once you get past the generic 'off a piece of paper' tech support you get passed to some of the best Irish techs I've ever spoken to. They managed to get me running at 3 meg despite living in a rural area 5 miles from the exchange. BT told me that 1 meg was the best I would ever get.

After about 7 or 8 years of "borrowing" from a few secure wifi networks i have finally taken the plunge and ordered Virgin Media Fibre Optic 20MB Broadband for 20 quid a munf.

I suggest you do the same if you can.

With Regards to talktalk, i used to work for them on their 2nd line tech support. I done this for 3weeks until i stood up, gave my boss a "fuck you and everything you believe" gesture involving two fingers on each hand, called him a broadband Nazi and walked out.
Its rediculous, they are the worst company i have ever had the mis-fortune to work for. The customer records software they use was designed for the phones, and contracts they sold way back when they first started the carphone warehouse. It is slow, and very very unsuitable for what they use it for. While i was there i had over 40 people phone up and complain/shout/swear etc etc that they ordered the adsl internet service over 9months ago and they still havent received it yet they had still been charged.....
Avoid them like the plague.

For other people screaming about Talk Talk, chk this forum thread out here.

You are lucky. Look at these pics

Both of these were just after they fixed my low speed problem. 5.30pm till 11.30 they strangle it.

If you are getting tesco LLU broadband Its not talk talk I can promise you that, its going to be connected to a rather low utilised network Wink provided by a very well known and respected telco company, meaning you shouldn't have any throughput issues at all, latency should be sweet to, no throttling either, just straight through connect.

I know this because I am an engineer on the 3rd line team for the LLU network Tesco are using for their calls and broadband service. In fact its me that fixes your broadband if tesco 1st and 2nd line cant. Just make sure its LLU and not BT IPStream or DataStream.

Did you use to work at Stanford house? I was at Northbank House for a few year in Irlam before I left the crapness that was CPW Networks.

Check out Sam Knows and see who has LLU at your exchange.

If you are getting poor results with Sky and its not LLU, then odds on you will get exactly the same with other isp's using BT kit.

TT can be OK when things are going well..... It really is when you hit a problem, like you have now or as others have, that you find out just how bad they are.

Been with VM since the NTL days, they are excellent, not interested In the customer service because the connection is so reliable I never have to call them. I have never heard so much as a peep related to my consumption of data. Although they do throttle torrent traffic on occasion, Which I understand, as It must account for a high proportion of bandwidth at times.

I pay £17 a month, and have seen very impressive speeds over this connection which started as 1mb, and is now considerably higher due to free upgrades.
