If you have a big wallet, get a BMW S1000RR
183bhp at the rear wheel, £12,500, done!
For a turbo, you would need minimum:
Turbo
Actuator
Oil feed
Oil return
Management System
Possibly a larger head gasket, bikes have a very high compression, so you would only be able to run a few PSI of boost, probably not going to make much of difference with the extra weight. You would need to lower the compression with a thicker head gasket to run any more boost, and you might need to look at internals as well. Better pistons, rod's, ect... ____________________ 2009 CBR1000RR

Why would you need 2 turbo's??
Just because its a twin doesn't mean you need 2 turbo's! You don't have 4 turbo's on a 4 cylinder! ____________________ 2009 CBR1000RR

the other option is to sacrifice the rear cylinder and make it a "kompressor" ____________________ "intelligent inattention is preferable to unintelligent tinkering"

Right, back in the 1980's, the idea that turbo-charging was 'fasionable' and the Japanese were looking at ANYTHING they could stick an acronym sticker on, to suggest a technical marvel in thier product.... I think they all had a go at making a Turbo-Proddy-Bike.
Probably the most successful was the most concervative one, the Kawasaki GPz750 Turbo.
It was pretty much the normally aspirated GPz750 'Unitrac', with an american 'Mr-Turbo' kit bolted on at the factory!
I think they even admitted that they had actually bought a MrTurbo kit 'for evaluation' and had 'had discussions' with the people at MrTurbo, during development.
Yamaha's offering, was errmmm wiered. It was an XJ600, given a 'futuristic' 'street-hawk' sort of styling excersize and a Knight-rider 'strobe' style boost guage on the tank.
It didn't have a MrTurbo kit on it. I think Yamaha took photos of a MrTurbo kitted XJ600 with a telephoto lense, and then had scientists examine them in Japan and make something that LOOKEd like what they had seen.
Suzuki.... well, this was only a VERY short time after they had given up on the RE5 rotary engined Wankel, having paid HUGE amounts of money for the licence to build it, and copied Kawasaki's Z1, to create the GS1000, while paying some-one in england, I cant remember who it was a HUGE amount of money to design them a frame 'like the featherbed' to make thier product go round corners.
They went to town on thier Turbo, and I recall it was an 850, even uglier than the Yamaha, and even more horrible.
Honda were the LAST to enter the Turbo-Bike frey, and they decided they wanted to show the others how a Turbo-Bike SHOULD be developed, from scratch.
And as they were a little ahead of the game developing turbo-charged engines that were doing rather well in F1 cars.... they thought that they would PROVE how far ahead of the game they were, by picking THE most difficult bike they could find to turbo-charge....
Which, for the most part is a lot of irrelevent waffle, except for THIS salient fact.
They decided that THE most challenging engine to Turbo, the ONE that if they could show it could be done, would prove they could turbo ANYTHING....... was........
a V-Twin.
So they grabbed a poor unsuspecting CX500 off the production line, and went to town on it, making something.... well, where the Yam was a futuristic horror, you could at least say that it was a daring excersise in the contemprary avante guarde. The Suzuki, was just plain ugly, but the Honda, NOT the pretties or most loved bike to begin with, was just SO bulbousely perverse, it was almost an statement in 'anti-style'!
They also had a habbit of eating thier turbo bearings, and curiousely, when the turbo was removed, becouse they were so bludy expensive to fix...... actually being faster!
Which SORT of suggests that the Honda CX-Turbo project, if not the entire Factory Turbo 'fad' it was a complete waste of time!
As they rapidly learned that they could make a far better, far cheaper, far more reliable motorcycle, with an AWFUL lot more performance and handling, simply by making them a bit bigger and a bit lighter and a bit stronger!
Turbo-Charging a GT650?!?!?
Well, its NO madder an idea than Hnda had I suppose......
Only they had a lot of computers, a lot of money, and thier own private test track.......
You know this licence of yours when you get it back...... you wont be getting TOO attached to it will you?!?! ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!

You're all wrong. What you want is a Hybrid Electric Turbo technically your bike will be the worlds first hybrid, zero turbo lag, potentially better economy, mental power whenever you want it. If i had the money, i'd be making it right now! |
