So lately ive noticed my heartbeat seems to go a bit mental at the slightest bit of excercise. Actually, running up the stairs once results in my heart trying to escape my chest
I dont think im particulary 'unfit', I have a relatively active job, play football once a week and I workout about 3 times a week (no cardio though)
I reckon I need to start doing some running or cycling or something as I seem to be getting out of puff way too easy these days.
The whole heart pounding thing got me curious so I measured my heart rate while sat chillin on the sofa.
Then ran up the stairs and immediately measured it again.
At rest I do about 66bpm. Run up my stairs and it nearly doubles to around 120. Is this a bad thing??
What do you BCfers come in at, post your results! |

Fitness is not about how fast your heart rate increases or how high it goes, it is about how quickly it returns back down again/you recover!! ____________________ The purpose of life is to fight maturity. |

Before my serious accident my resting rate was about 54bpm.
No idea what it is now!
Nothing on Lance Armstrong's 30bpm resting or whatever. . ____________________ "Four wheels move the body, two wheels move the soul."

How much do you weigh in at and what is your height?
I'm 15stone of pure brute force and manliness (flubber) and I can raise my heart rate getting out of bed and going for a slash next door ... but I also have an exceptional recovery rate and endurance, so not bov-ered!! ____________________ The purpose of life is to fight maturity. |

No pulsing, just the pounding chest and occasionally get a bit light headed when excercising/exerting. Generally just get out of puff easily.
Roll back 5-6yrs and I had too much energy, these days its severley lacking. What is the matter with me Dr Blue?? Dont tell me I am dying of teh aids |

Resting Heart rate of ermm 81
Smoked a stupid amount of tabs and drugs for a few years, have been smoke free for about a year. Overweight a smidgen and not the most physical person. Have lost a stone though since christmas. Bit worried about this heart rate though. ____________________ Current: Honda Nsr 125

Yeah I'd also recommend getting it checked mate, if even just for piece of mind!
With things like this, you really can get yourself worried sh*tless over something you need not worry about though.
I'm a cyclist and I do a minimum of 90 and a maximum of 150 miles a week commuting and sometimes a long ride on the weekend if I fancy a bit of an outing
I can recover from a sprint in a few minutes no worries, and my resting pulse is ~57bpm (taken just now )
In short fella, get it looked at and see where it goes from there, if Mr Doctor says you're fine then discard it and carry on with your football once a week or whatever! Nothing to stop you taking up swimming anyway though
Hope this helps but probably won't as it's all been said above!
EDIT: Also, not sure if it's worth a mention, but I don't smoke, rarely drink if I'm honest, and generally eat healthily etc etc.
ANOTHER EDIT: Also! I'm 5' 11'' ish and was 10 stone when last checked but that was a while ago!
Steve.

Just measured mine and it's 52BPM.
Do a lot of exercise, run 3 times a week and do weights/circuit training 3 times a week. Then usually play footy/american football/basketball on the weekend, also eat a strict diet!
I'm 19, 5ft11 and about 11.8 Stone.
