hi folks, got this project not so long ago and rode for the first tie today....the problem is excelleration....not to good at all...seems to struggle to get to 50mph. Had new piston n rings engine starts and ticks over nicely. all standard apart from the allspeed, could it be this? needle in the carb was on the second notch down which i moved to the middle it improved the excelleration a bit but still not good enough. what do yous think? would a KnN sort things out? would prefure a standard pipe to swap if theres any about......the pipes in grt condition. ta for any help

if moving the clip down (therefore moing the needle UP) improved things, then you will most lilkely need a bigger mainjet.

Find out the size you have at the moment and buy maybe the next four sizes up and give them a try.

+1.

Try moving the clip down another notch.

If its on the standard main jet, then it will most likely need to have a bigger one installed to compensate for the expansion pipe.

Odds on it's the pipe at fault. Or rather the fact that the jetting doesn't match the pipe. RXS motors don't like non-standard exhausts at all.

Finding a good standard item is difficult as they tend to rust through round the (entirely unnecessary) bracket at the front of the pipe. Having said that, you can quite easily bodge this (with Jubilee clips/Gun Gum and/or aluminium tape).
