Need to remove and replace the "pivot pin" that the centre stand and rear brake pedal attach to (as it's causing lots of freeplay on the rear brake pedal due to wear). I've already removed the rear brake pedal having fought the split pin off, but the Haynes manual doesn't seem to tell you how to take the centre stand off. Clearly it'll need to be slid off / the pivot pin needs knocking through it, but there is the complication of the (strong) centre stand spring in the way (i suspect it needs unhooking, but i certainly can't do it with my fingers!), along with this bigish flat piece of metal associated with the centre stand.

Hopefully someone who's done it before can clarify, cheers Thumbs Up

With the stand extended, stick as many washers or pennies as you can along its length between the coils.
If you then take the bike off the stand and lift the centre stand to its normal raised position, the spring will stay extended and should unhook easily enough or just simply fall off one end.

When the big hammer method just belled the end of the pivot shaft my MK2 solution involved the angle grinder and dremel, the stand, spring, C clip and shaft were all replaced with new so the condition of the old parts was "whatever it takes to get them out" Thumbs Up

the problem I had was that the pivot holes for the centrestand was worn on the frame. I'm still thinking how to go about getting the frame sorted.
