I've just got an e-mail from the Bike insurer - There’s now a “long term” bike hire company offering Kwak Z1000’s for around £170 a month, ZX6R’s for about £160 a month…

Seems like a good idea to me, and I’m surprised I’ve not seen and bike leasing companies before however I cant help but think it’s probably a little too expensive, and I wouldn’t like not being able to “customise” my bike!

Average mileage of 4000 a year is little to no use on a lease bike Sad

Comedy exhaust you say??? That’s an understatement…

I think it’s a real shame really, as personally I really loved the “twin-twin”exhausts on the old Z1000…

Hi

Suspect as the prices are given as "from" and include insurance they will go up quite a bit for younger riders or more than a nominal mileage.

Also expect that should you modify the bike (such as chopping off the numberplate mount) you will get stung for the cost of new bits to return it to standard at the end of the lease.

Quite possibly any damage (minor scratches to the bodywork, etc) at the end of the lease will be repaired by claiming on the insurance, leaving you without any no claims for your next bike.

Or maybe I am just being cynical.

All the best

Keith

Er now I'm really confused.. Laughing
Either its FREE or YOU PAY......

The site is as clear as mud Laughing

Mind you list price of a Z1000 is £8499. So the £167 for 36 months is well under what you would pay for the bike alone over that period, even if you got a 10% discount and 0% interest. I just wonder what rider the Ins is based on.
Bet no one gets one for that price Rolling Eyes

Suspect you are right. The £167 probably applies to someone doing 1000 miles a year (smallest mileage), about 60 (so nominal insurance) and with full no claims.

After 3 years the they can probably get plenty more than the £2500 difference between the cost of the bike new and what the person has paid.

That said, if you can afford it and don't mind paying a bit extra to not worry about resale values, etc, then it might well be worthwhile.

All the best
