Does the Dealership have to ensure the bike is taxed when it leaves them? Just that I'm thinking that all vehicles have to either be taxed or SORN'd these days.
If so could you not arrange to have a SORN issued as it will be off the road until you are ready to ride, insure and tax it? You or they can do this online, so it's not like it's going to take ages and require any other documentation.

Well, well,
Is your bike "Pre-reg"?
Or is it straight out of the crate, brand spanking new?
If it's "pre-reg", meaning dealer is first owner, then they should be able to tax it for you, using their own trade dealer insurance.
If it's straight out of the crate, then it's not registered with DVLA therefore, no log book? so can't be taxed?
But i thinks it's advisable to take out comprehensive insurance and gap insurance in case your bike get stolen during the time, since it's such a juicy tasty bike. ____________________ current toys: Skygo SG125-J 125cc stolen again 1992 Kawasaki GPZ500S (crashed damaged) 1996 Renault Clio 1.2 2005 CG125 project |

No offense but if you are getting such a machine and only going TPFT then you are being silly.
If you have the money to repair, replace the bike in the event of an accident then you have the cash to go fully comp on insurance.
Unless you are buying it outright, you could well find yourself with no bike and a fuck load of debt in the event you stack it. |

Don't need insurance to purchase the bike, but need it to ride it about so pretty much if by the odd chance Mr Police Officer was sat down the guys road and you took it for a quick 20meters and back ride then you would be in trouble sir but for popping it on a trailer and driving home in your road legal car then it's fine ____________________ C.B.T - Expired

Why buy it now and take it home, having to pay for TPFT insurance when you're not going to ride it for a month? If you take it in September, it will be worth more when you come to sell it (as they can register it as a 60 plate). ____________________ Current bike: Kawasaki Z750S |
