I talked to a friend today who wanted help with an oil change on his bike.
He said that the latest info is if you are caught doing a wheelie then you will go to prison for 3 months.
I told him I have not heared of this one but would ask all the knowledgeble bikers on BCF
So has anyone heared of this or has he just been fed some bullshit.

not heard that here either...
sounds like an excessively severe sentence for a wheelie - unless you were caught doing it on a stolen bike, while banned, with no helmet on and an opened bottle of JD in your hand?? ____________________ 1st bike (Sept'06 - May'10) : 1991 GPZ500S / Current bike (since Nov 2009) : 2003 Suzuki Bandit 600N

Doing a Wheelie is Punishable by being put in jail.
(If you over cook it and bin a decent bike in the process.)
Well it should be.. ____________________ W-ireless A-rtificial L-ifeform L-imited to O-bservation P-eacekeeping and E-fficient R-epair |

Not in proper control doing a wheelie? Should contest that if its a decent wheelie, displays perfect vehicle control if its high and long enough |

Would the back not just lock up as there is no weight on it.
I thought the front was effective as it was in front of the mass of the bike....
But cool picture anyway. |

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but if you're doing a wheelie, isn't ALL of your braking power from the rear wheel?
All the bike's weight is going through it too, so you'll have good traction (until the front hits the deck anyway), unlike the usual situation where you could well end up lifting it off the pavement itself if you have enough grip and brake force up front.
I think the argument may be more 1. you've got far less steering ability, 2. harder to see where you're going, 3. all too easy to overcook it and spazz your bike into oncoming traffic.
Still harboring quiet ambitions of getting mine to sit up and beg all the same... if I can manage it on a pushbike, then...? |

I think some information has been cross wired here.
I remember some years ago, there was a guy who got sent down for doing a wheelie at Box Hill, but he crashed into a group of people and killed a lady walking her dog. |
