Although a man in a German petrol station did once tell me that I needed 3 euros for the coffee I wanted.
(I didn't know what he was saying at the time, as I can't speak German, but once I thought about it, I realised he was saying "drei" and "euros", but at the time I was flustered by his foreign lingospeak)

Never been asked to remove my helmet, I pretty much go to the same petrol station most of the time.
So it's always the little old lady serving me.
I can see this thread going into the direction, Motorcycle Lids vs. Muslim Viels. ____________________ "Let's face it, this is not the worst thing you've caught me doing."

Probably because you have gold blobbs
One station i go to regularly(or did) now has signs on pumps stating helmets must be removed so cashier can verify you are over 16
Anyway, i buy flip helmets to avoid doing this, when on ZZR they get arsey(?) on tannoy saying remove lid to which i go to window and ask why they think i am a thief, this confuses them quite a lot.
On pan european they just switch on the pump no hassle ____________________ Nobby the Bastard: How yo tell the difference between the actual japanese and her just screaming because she's had live fish stuck up her arse? Other day at the Brenzett Total I was sitting behind a load of vehicles (most of the unleaded nozzles were out of service) and thinking that the guy on a BMW (R12...something...possibly) was your typical Sunday afternoon poser type when he beckoned me round to jump the queue and take his pump as soon as he'd done
Some fat gobshite in a 4x4 looked like he might have a stroke at the sheer impudence of we motorcyclists...even though he was in a diesel and the diesel nozzle of that pump was out of service
So thanks to the BMW guy. And also to the long suffering guy in JS Gedge, Hastings, who sorted me out a 420 pitch split link after mine on the RXS broke halfway through the other week - and the spare was nowhere to be found among my tools ____________________ The RXS100: vehicle of choice for Chuck Norris |

On the subject of silly petrol stations..
My local petrol station which is actually a small 24/7 Somerfield.
I was on the SV650 at 1am trying to get petrol, she called me over to the little desk since I can't go in as everyone out at 1am is a thief. .
Her: "Can you take your helmet off?"
Me: "Sure."
Her: "Thank you sir, now, can you please pay in advance for the petrol you are about to buy?"
Me: "But I just fill until full, not a specific number."
Her: "Oh, then leave your card here please."
After being quite confused about this, I filled up and went to pay.
Her: "Thank you for your co-operation sir."
Me: "But why did I have to pay in advance? You had my plate, my face, my voice, why?"
Her: "Because you may have ridden off without paying, if you were in a car we would not have made you pay in advance. Cars have a plate on front and back, all our cameras face forward so we can't see your numberplate."
At this point, I almost fell over from sheer disbelief! Making MOTORCYCLISTS pay in advance, but not car drivers? Her next gem:
Me: "Oh I see, that's a bit silly in my opinion, you should have cameras both sides then but, you can't get many drive offs!"
Her: "Oh just yesterday sir we had a car steal £48 of petrol!"
WHAT? You make ME pay in advance when yesterday a car drove off with £48 of petrol?
Sorry for this being a bit esoteric but I got the whole story in, sheer disbelief! Lest say I've not used them since. ! ____________________ "Four wheels move the body, two wheels move the soul."

Unless of course you want it skimmed? |
Not my card.
Even if it was though, they'd be hard pressed to find somewhere in that shop not covered by cameras to skim it.
Anyway, any cashier could skim your card whilst you're looking straight at them. All they need is the details off of it, who's to say they don't have a phone they can show the card details to that's filming?
I'm not overly worried. If everyone worried about their cards being skimmed, who'd think of the kittens!? ____________________ "Four wheels move the body, two wheels move the soul."

This topic has been discussed before on here, and a quick confirmation with my brother, who used to work for one of the major banks, confirms that YOU don't own the bank card. It remains the property of the bank.
Part of your terms and conditions are that you do not leave it unattended like that, mainly to prevent fraudulent transactions.
This is not to say I haven't done it in some places (I remember a bike rally I left my card behind the bar for the whole night, expensive) but I wouldnt be leaving a card with some assistant in the early hours of the morning. |
Mother's card.
I'm fairly sure the bank isn't going to come lynch me because I left a card behind a counter for all of 2 minutes. ____________________ "Four wheels move the body, two wheels move the soul."
