'emergency bikers' emergency pests!

Just watching thst ch5 thing and Im actually outraged at the police stopping law abiding bikers going about their business to lecture on what gear to wear.

Anyone of us sat here that would take it in the interest it is intended or would a polite 'suckusoff' be in order?

My noddy-car is fully legit though, so if they stop me in that to tell me my music is too loud and 'distracting' or something they'll get an earful. Stasi pricks.

I had to open a beer to stop myself popping a temple vein! Me and the bike are legit so Id be tempted to go off on a restrained but belittling rant about what a fantastic job he was doing. Obviously it would be laced heavily with sarcasm. 'are you giving me a ticket?' 'have I done anything wrong?' 'guess Ill be on my way so you can waste someone elses time who doesnt have the backbone to laugh at the arse puppet you really are!'

Isnt it illegal to disobey direction from a traffic officer? That means he is not just politely requesting a chat it is legally forcing you to pull over so he can give you some bollocks lecture!

Yes it is illegal, but only so far as traffic orders go. So them blocking off a street is something you must conform to. Them stopping you to give you a lecture probably isn't. At most they could make you stay till they're done, they can't make you go out and buy stuff or do stuff thats not a legal requirement.

I've never worn 'bike gear' but have never been lectured (or even had the fact mentioned in passing) by the cops. I demand my rights - I want to patronised by a load of fat arseholes with very little idea how to ride a bike and about a tenth of the road experience I've got too.

Saw that myself last night. I thought that the guy on the quad bike was a pillock for riding without any protection, but he was legally compliant so plod had no right to pull him over. Stinks of more nanny state, health and safety police interference.

he was wearing a helmet at least didnt even need that legally speaking. i cant believe how much that has wound you up?! whats wrong with a copper taking 2 mins out your day to advise you on gear? surely this might just get a seventeedn yr old to wear his jacket gloves etc so if he does come off it will save him alot of pain. fair enough the older boys will do what they do but the impressionable yoof of today might just benefit. that bloke on the quad looked a right tit.

Their view on such matters of 'safety' is biased by their job.

They go to work and live in bike gear, it's the norm and what they are expected to do, therefore everyone else should do the same.

For the kid on the RS125 he stopped who worked at ASDA, this doesn't sound too fun:

On topic - I've never been stopped by Traffic, and they'd have a field day lecturing me because I quite often don't wear full kit - throwing a bike jacket over jeans or my uniform is common when the weather is decent. I'd probably find it pretty patronising too - but like Hetzer, I'd try and remember if my bike were 100% legal before mugging them off!

I stopped a 125 running on L plates this week for a patronising lecture, purely because he was screaming about at 40 (in a 30) in the pouring rain with massive puddles of standing water, wobbling into blind corners and generally being a moment away from utter disaster.

He was a nice kid with a brand new (totally legal and insured) bike blatantly bought for him by mummy and daddy, and took the lecture on the chin.

If nothing else, it'll serve him well when he gets a proper bike, as he'll hopefully remember not to give it the beans in front of a marked police pursuit car - preserving his license!

What episodes of Emergency Bikers have the bike cops on? I've only watched the first ep & it seemed mostly about the emergency service.

Not to keen on seeing someone bleeding to death, much prefer the Police stuff.
