Not familiar with bikes at all, to be fair not even ridden this yet, as I haven't done my CBT.
Brother has an Aprilia RS125, even before he bought it I told him it will probably cost him a small fortune, just had it rebuilt and essentially running it in now, guy who rebuilt it is well recommended by most I have spoken to, I am only seeing this as a third party type of view here, but it the bike has been back forth, it has done more miles in the back of a van than on the road.
Problems I can find so far or know off
Clutch, with the bike turned off, put it into first gear, pull the clutch in and you can feel the clutch isn't fully disengaged, you can move the bike back and forth but you can feel the compression.
Starting, takes about 30 seconds of cranking before it splutters into life, and you have to keep it going for the first 30 seconds or it will cut out, and you have to repeat the process.
Riding on the road, apparently it gets hot temperature wise, then cuts out and wont restart till it cools down, I don't know on that as I can't ride it.
Now with my CBT coming up one Wednesday I wouldn't mind getting it insured in my name and using it, but I don't fancy breaking down all the time, can anyone provide me with some tips or something to look for? I really have no idea with bikes |

ok step 1 : [failed]dont buy an rs 125. [/failed]
step2: dont race it like its a racing bike even though it is. they just cant handle it.
step 3: dont decide to go for a long long ride for a few hours, the engine will cry
so basicly.
ride it to the shop and back and have fun ____________________ GOOD GAME BODYGUARD: https://i.imgur.com/8WePGgf.jpg

Hi
They can be a bit grumpy starting. However if just rebuilt I assume it is being run in which doesn't give it a chance to clear its throat and gives the spark plug a hard time (especially if it has a colder plug intended for a full power one).
On the over heating thing, first thing to do is check that the cooling system is bled through. There is a screw to allow you to bleed the cooling system on the pipe near the battery and header tank.
If that doesn't fix it then it could be that the thermostat has failed (they seem pretty reliable though normally) or the water pump has failed (possible, but would expect it to over heat very quickly).
Other possibility is that the coolant is too much anti freeze and too little water. If so the resulting mix is too thick and the pump struggles to push it round at a decent rate.
All the best

70-80 is normal.
I had my bike go to 125 celcius on me.
Basically my bike had grey kinda smoke and went to 100 and started flashing.
I sent it to the mechanics and they used a gauge outside and it was normal. He looked inside and said the cap of the radiator needs changing so I bought a new one.
Rode home and it went to 100 again so I took it back. He said it should be OK and water was on the cap and bike's temp gauge. He checked the outside again.
So I rode home and it hit 125 Celcius and the bike cut fof and lcoekd up. Luckily no car was on the right side or I would have been fucked.
I told him to check again and he found out the wheel for the water/coolant was broken. ____________________ Hit the G spot. |

Just go and commit suicide already, silly cunt. You don't know what oil goes where on a fucking YB100 so why you feel the need to give advice on anything bike related whatsoever? ____________________ 18:54:48 Rob Fzs: jews don't give away stuff for free

Right back in from my first ride out on the bike, 350 or so miles covered in 6 hours, mixed riding, alot of country road that I know, mixed with a fair bit of town and traffic riding.
It cut out once on me and instantly restarted, the problem my brother is having didn't really show its head, although I did stall it 3 times with clutch in, but started fine when I put it into neutral.
Left the bike for around an hour, started it, and it cut out, bogged down, restarted it and had to feather the throttle as it had overfuelled by the looks of it, so a few quick blips cleared it and it was fine.
Problem getting second gear when cold, I assume it is wet clutch? And down to the fluid not being hot? Cars do similar.
The problem I was getting though was a misfire or stutter
On the flat it was fine, it would have a quick stutter then clear through it and take off.
Downhill, no stutter at all
Uphill or underload, slightly wrong gear and it would stutter a fair bit between 4000rpm and 5000rpm, but when you get past that area it would again clear up and go.
As for BCF not really being browsed and taking "for ever" to get an answer, meh so what, least there are people willing to spend there time to actually help, so what if it takes 30 seconds or 30 days, at least someone is actually helping |

Right I have taken all the info on board, and I have done some extensive testing today in the sunshine basically, it gets to 75, and then the carb just floods the engine and bogs it down, bit of a pain, but a set up on the carb and it should be good to go,
Thanks to those who actually helped |
