Hi Guys,

Rode a mates bike last night and noticed that when you either:

a) Brake very hard on the front
b) Shift alot of weight up front

their is a 'knock' coming from the front end?

Checked pads/discs/wheels and they ok.
Checked suspension and that seems fine.

No play in head bearings etc

And it passed an MOT last week.

Any ideas? Or nowt to worry about?

Holds a straight line well, corners well, and stops well, so can't see it being 'too' serious?

Only happens under braking when braking hard AND going slow.

If going warp speed and braking hard for a sharp corner, then no knocking (or at least that can be heard)

You've eliminated pretty much all it could be but I'd suggest a further check on the head bearings, when you bang the brake on there's tremendous force going through the headstock. Something else you might check on is the state of the top and bottom fork yokes, I've had a top one crack on me in the past. Well worth a look. Best of luck.

Get front wheel off the ground and pull and push on the front axle very hard.

Mine did the same and I tightened the head bearings and it was fine.
