i have a 50cc customized chopper, (electric and pull start)
the bike starts fine but when i pull the accelerator the bike just revs up and makes a ton of noise but does not go. i do not have a clue about 50cc bikes, i have put a new carb on it but it still has the same problem..
i have been customizing the bike for a year now and during customization, the engine has just been sitting around not doing anything, im not sure whether this is the problem. before the bike was stripped and customization began, the bike started and ran fine. all new performance parts have been put on it such a a rocket key, nitrous, fuel filter and more.
i am in need of urgent help as i need it finished to give back to my son.
thanks,

Presuming the 'obviouse'.... the drive chain or belt is fitted!
Or are you assuming its a twist & go, when it has gears, & yiur just revving it in neutral?
But, if twist & go, it'll be the centrifugal clutch.
Either the shoes are jammed & not engaging, or they are worn out.
If its a chineese 'toy' bike, thats actually the most likely. Clutches weren't great cop to begine with.
Normally on the right hand end of the crannk, as the bikes facing forward. Bit like a brake drum. Back-plate is attached to the crank, shoes held together by springs, when they spin, centrifugal forces throw them 'out' to grip inside the drum sitting around them, that usually runs on a bearing on the same shaft, and will have a belt drive on the outside or a gear, or sproket to take drive to the back-wheel. ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!

i worded the question incorrectly.
the bike does actually move but it is very sluggish and im not sure why because before it was customized it worked fine.
thanks |
sounds exactly like a chinese toy-bike with a worn clutch and stretched return springs.
Motor revs up; shoes come out to early, so engage drive when theres not enough power to pull the thing along.
Shoes slip, becouse drag greater than drive, wearing & glazing the shoes.
Accelerating harder, motor takes load, but doesn't spin faster, shoes still lack grip, bike doesn't move, or moves sluggishly, like it had a 100:1 reduction ratio or something.
Find a hill or give it a push to get it moving, (reduce the amount of drag, motor will spin up & bike willmove a bit more easily, but once load back on it, glazed worn pads wont transmit drive, bike slows down again, motor labouring but not reving.
