can anybody tell me if there are any ways of putting a better exhaust on a 2006 honda CG125?

only reason for this is some t*t Evil or Very Mad put his leg too near it and melted his textile trousers to it, so it now looks a mess and i cant get it off.

any advise?

Have you tried scraping the crustified remains off with a plastic scraper? Had a carrier bag melt itself to my downpipe but it came off quite easily.

yeah but it's well and truly stuck. Is it easy to replace it with a standard CG exhaust or is there better ones you can replace it with. Like a shorter oval can or such like?

If you're asking if there are any aftermarket exhausts for the CG, the short answer is NO =P
Standard exhausts are fairly simple to fit being a single cylinder.
Pretty sure it's a 1 piece exhaust anyway.

As said the short answer is no.
Anything is possible, so in theory yes you could fit a different exhaust but its not worth the agro.
Just clean up the one you have, as suggested above a gentle abrasive and a wooden or plastic scraper.

The cg is what it is, cracking small commuter/learner bike but there are little or no modification options, it has always been aimed at the simple, low tech, totally reliable end of the market.

Cheers

Tim

Exactly the same thing happened to me.

I took the exhaust off and scraped it off, polished with fine grade wool and polished some more...

It will go off eventually...

I just bought another CG125 yesterday as my first one was stolen after only having had it for two weeks.

Would you believe it? I was riding it back last night and the exact same thing happened (only it was ME that was the t*t this time).

Got it home after the very long trip and found a black splodge on the exhaust and a hole in my trousers.

Gonna try and clean it off today. I'll let you know if and what works best.

Wish I'd read this topic first - I'd have been more careful.

Grrrrrrrrr........

Sorry for the delay in replying - I ordered a whole bunch of new parts and had to wait until they arrived before trekking across town to my mate's house where it's stored.

Right, I had a quick go with Autosol and a cloth last night. I underestimated the job - it takes absolutely FOREVER to move it.

It does come off but only in tiny amounts with lots of work. I'm guessing I'm gonna have to take the exhaust off and put some newspaper on the living room floor and have a night in front of the telly with it!

i did something similar with the exhaust of my cg125. Fed a chain through the gap between the engine and the front part of the frame. This left the chain sitting on the hot exhaust. The plastic cover the chain melted and made a right mess. You live and learn!

Anyhow wire wool and some WD40 cleared it right up Smile

Apologies to kemshell123, but I've been so busy that I've only just managed to get round to doing this. I guess by now you've cleaned it off, but here's what worked for me anyway...

Right - I'm new to biking and polishing chrome so didn't want to use anything abrasive, just in case, so I had another go with a soft yellow cloth and some Autosol (occasionally scraping with my nail through the cloth). To get from the first photo to the second, took me about 25 minutes. Most of it came off no problem, except for a thick 'lump' which was melted over the word 'Brasileira'.

That wasn't coming off so I took to it very carefully with a single, unguarded razor blade. Turned out this was the ideal way of scraping it all off and after about five minutes with the blade and a bit more Autosol it was spotless.

Wish I'd used the blade from the start!

Well done that man.
And it didn't take too long.

Cheers bud,
will get some autosol ASAP and crack on with it - the rest of the exhaust is mega clean and shiny part from that 1 small section!

Yeah, it's really infuriating, isn't it?! I was so mad at myself when I did it!

Autosol's great to have anyway, but I would honestly try the razor blade first. It's cheaper (and easier!)

Oh ffs just go to tescos and pick up one of their cheap twin-blade disposables. It'll be not much removed from a bare blade and you'll get done in half the time Very Happy

(nasty pieces of work they are, if you actually try to take one to your face)

Hardware stores will probably sell something of that ilk because they do have various genuine uses in home crafts.

I'm going to try this myself, because my mum has access to quite a few such supplies being a science teacher, and my zorst is covered with all kinds of blotchy crap. Was quite disheartening when I tried to autosol it before. Loads of polishing, one small section looking beautifully shiny ... and the rest of it much the same as before.

Just remember to put some temperature-proof wax on it after. I think Mer is supposed to be exhaust-safe?
