Posted: 02:25 - 27 Aug 2010 Post subject: MOT and VIN headache |
 |
|
To cut a long story somewhat short, I offered to get my dads FZ6 through its MOT. When I took it down to the MOT place they said the bike wasn't on their database and something was odd with the VIN/Reg no.
I got home and checked the VIN and reg with the details on the V5, and it all matched up fine. I then checked the status on the DVLA website and nada, 'the document number from the V5C registration certificate does not exist or does not match the vehicle registration mark.'
Any ideas on what to do? Utterly puzzled. The bike definitely is kosher, came out the showroom in 2006 and hasn't been out of sight since then. Should I contact the DVLA or is there someone else better equipped to deal with this? ____________________ Bikes: 1998 Honda VFR800Fi, 26,500 miles

Calyx, thanks for the fantastic advice. I've already tried checking the status, and it finds nothing with the V5 ref number and reg. You're such a genius though as I would never have thought of that without your sage advice.
Oh well, I'm ringing VOSA and DVLA to try and sort this mess out anyway. ____________________ Bikes: 1998 Honda VFR800Fi, 26,500 miles
