Just wondering what size and manufacturer your gaming tv's are, and if anyone knows anything as to why people are wanking over 100hz screens?

Higher refresh rate = less flicker, no trails and shaper detail as pixels flick on and off as needed rather than gradually glowing and fading. So long as what you get is 1080P and has decent contrast ratio (non adaptive is best) you just need to pick one with the connections you need, thats the right size for your room. I'd seriously consider an LED one as LCD is soon going to be sooooo last decade Razz

The only problem with 100+hz sets is that they do introduce a fair amount of input lag (e.g. the difference in time taken for a control action to be displayed on screen). Plasma screens typically have the edge in this field at the moment.

Whether or not this will cause a problem depends on the game you're trying to play (e.g. fast 1st person shooters, rhythm based games)

Having said that most tv's have a "Game Mode" function which turns off all/most of the extra processing.

Personally I've got a Panasonic TX-P50VT20, quite happy with it

I'd avoid any of the new LED televisions for gaming at the moment (especially the newer Samsungs) due to horrendous input lag, besides these LED's are a bit of a misconception as it's just the backlight that is different and now they've all seem to moved to edge lit backlighting, which just produces an uneven level of colour across the whole screen.

They do look nice though. Sign up with www.avforums.com there is a lot of info to take in there.

I brought the 42LE5300 this weekend (100hz). Very impressed with it so far, especially for the price! I've only tried Gran Turismo 5 Prologue on it so far which ran at 1080i and 60hz and looked very good, no lag. Thumbs Up

At the end of the day it can only refresh as fast as its source.
Going off my old tv its very clear that its alot faster and well worth its weight.

I have a Grundig (Elegance?) 21" for my PS3. No idea on the refresh rate I'm afraid, don't have any issues and it lives on 720p, Doesn't support 1080p unfortunately, only 1080i.
