Hey guys.

Looking at getting a pair of these kevlar lined jeans. Draggin' jeans must be the best but I saw a pair of Berik ones today in a shop for £85ish I think.

So, what brands are you wearing? How do they hold up in a crash? Are they comfy/true to size? How expensive are they? Laughing

Thanks Smile Thumbs Up

My GF has some RedRoute Kevlar jeans with knee pads. She had an off a couple of months ago now at about 25-30mph.

Although the denim outer had some cuts and scuffing, apart from a bruise on one shin (which I think the top of her boot did) her legs were fine and the Kevlar inner stayed intact.

Comfort wise she really likes them + better for walking about in when you get somewhere

I have a pair of Richa and a pair of Ram, comfy, good fit and wash well, not had an off wearing them but the kevlar coverage is good so Im hopeful. Paid app £50 a pair.

I've got these:

https://www.getgeared.co.uk/HELD_6767_Fame_Kevlar_Motorcycle_Jeans

Had three offs, one on my old scooter and two on my 125, not a single piece of skin lost, or denim ripped. Money well spent in my book. Thumbs Up

I have some red route jeans, in my opinion they look like the most like normal jeans, and in a 30mph crash i only had a tiny mark where there was no kevlar so i can't complain at all.

Getgeared seems to be quite popular then :/

Are held a reputable make because I havent heard of them before? Not too sure about the colour. I prefer dark blue/black jeans and the black seems a bit faded and the blue is too pale. Not sure Ill go for these but just gonna look at some redroute's now...

Thanks for the comments guys.

Haha, the dragons. Redroute rideout seem to be fairly good. What are they like for shoe showing. I mean when you sit down your trousers come up so are they going to expose your leg? The other day I was riding with jeans and ankle socks and I felt/looked stupid :L

And whoever made up kevlar jeans IS god!

I think they cost about £90.

I know this can be a contentious matter but while waiting for the ambulance there were guys riding past in t-shirts and bare hands; having seen the damage she'd just done to her helmet, leather jacket and gloves it really made me shudder to think what they'd look like if they came off.

Definately and they will last a while anyway so its worth the profit. I mean for a fairly normal/decent pair of jeans you are looking anywhere from £30-50 anyway. Depends on how much you look at but you see Diesel jeans and Evisu's for like £150 so its not much really.

I've only got a pair of Draggin Jeans.

I haven't crashed with them yet.

They were brand new with tags for £50ish on eBay (original price £110).

I have 2 pairs. One is a pair of Mohar jeans, they're great. Worked well when I came off Smile
The other is a pair of 'Roadmaster' jeans which I got from eBay..they seem to be made pretty well, but I'll let you know how well they fare if I have an off or they fall apart!

I have a pair of joe rocket steel jeans. Only downside is the sizing, if you have a 42 inch waist they assume your crotch requires 10 foot of clearance leaving the waist line up near your armpits

I'm with you on the Hood jeans.

Far better coverage with the kevlar lining than all the other ones on the market - I've got no wish to be sliding down the road and find out where the lining isn't on draggin/red route etc!

They're very well priced, and British made. First pair I ordered the wrong size - they'd sent me the replacement pair before I even had the first pair in the post back to them - great customer service.

Another nod to Hood here, my only gripe is that they've recently stopped selling the concept 6 jean which imo was the most comfortable type.

They've stood up to abuse perfectly well and I trust them far more than my camo lindstrads, the lindstrads are softer and cooler on hot days though.

I've been after a pair, but have found it difficult to find anywhere that stocks ladies kevlar jeans. Quite a few places online but I can't even begin to think about buying jeans without trying them on first!! Embarassed

I tried the Sartso ones in Hein Gericke and they fitted well, but for some reason the current ladies ones don't have the knee guard pockets. It's been noted and apparently the new ones coming in will have, so I'm waiting for those.

I'm keen to have knee guards as an option. I'm pretty fond of my knees as they are and figure in an off they'd take a hell of a bashing without guards. Do folk who've posted that they use kevlar jeans actually have/put guards in or have you found the kevlar to be sufficient in an off? Confused

I bought some Hood jeans a few months ago, mainly on the various recommendations on BCF. I can’t compare them with any of the latest breed of Kevlar jeans because I’ve not tried any of the others.

I bought the K7 Hoods and wonder whether I should have gone for the ND4s. The K7 are VERY blue. I hope they’ll fade with time and washing, but I’m slightly self conscious about them as they are right now. They kind of remind me of the sort of M&S own brand jeans I used to wear as a kid.

Comfort is pretty good though. The lining and weight of the denim make them quite stiff and they feel a little rough on the inside, but I can live with that. I used them on a daily commute into The City for a few weeks in the hottest bit of the summer. They were definitely cooler than leathers, but I still got home with a serious case of Betty Swallox.

I bought them with the armour and they’re fairly comfortable with it all fitted, but I have two small issues with it. Firstly I got them to use in warm weather, so surrounding my legs in what is basically dense insulation sort of defeats the point. Secondly the armour makes them less comfortable to walk in and I suspect that a faded outline of the armour would eventually wear into the leg ruining the “I’m a normal person, not a biker gimp” feature.

Finally protection. I haven’t crashed in them and I really don’t plan to. Ideally I would always wear them with the armour, but I doubt that’s going to happen. I can live with the slight discomfort on the basis that road rash and smashed kneecaps are going to be a lot more uncomfortable.

They were about £100 with the armour, but well worth it when I consider that some of my work colleagues will happily spend £150 on a pair of pre-distressed jeans made by some child in an Asian sweatshop, just because they have a designer’s name on them.
