Posted: 21:32 - 04 Sep 2010 Post subject: Kevlar Jeans - What brands is everyone wearing? |
 |
|
Hey guys.
Looking at getting a pair of these kevlar lined jeans. Draggin' jeans must be the best but I saw a pair of Berik ones today in a shop for £85ish I think.
So, what brands are you wearing? How do they hold up in a crash? Are they comfy/true to size? How expensive are they?
Thanks ____________________ Rusty '02 Vito Camper + CBR600F3 |

I have 2 pairs. One is a pair of Mohar jeans, they're great. Worked well when I came off
The other is a pair of 'Roadmaster' jeans which I got from eBay..they seem to be made pretty well, but I'll let you know how well they fare if I have an off or they fall apart! |

I've been after a pair, but have found it difficult to find anywhere that stocks ladies kevlar jeans. Quite a few places online but I can't even begin to think about buying jeans without trying them on first!!
I tried the Sartso ones in Hein Gericke and they fitted well, but for some reason the current ladies ones don't have the knee guard pockets. It's been noted and apparently the new ones coming in will have, so I'm waiting for those.
I'm keen to have knee guards as an option. I'm pretty fond of my knees as they are and figure in an off they'd take a hell of a bashing without guards. Do folk who've posted that they use kevlar jeans actually have/put guards in or have you found the kevlar to be sufficient in an off? ____________________ 'The core of a man's spirit comes from new experiences'

I bought some Hood jeans a few months ago, mainly on the various recommendations on BCF. I can’t compare them with any of the latest breed of Kevlar jeans because I’ve not tried any of the others.
I bought the K7 Hoods and wonder whether I should have gone for the ND4s. The K7 are VERY blue. I hope they’ll fade with time and washing, but I’m slightly self conscious about them as they are right now. They kind of remind me of the sort of M&S own brand jeans I used to wear as a kid.
Comfort is pretty good though. The lining and weight of the denim make them quite stiff and they feel a little rough on the inside, but I can live with that. I used them on a daily commute into The City for a few weeks in the hottest bit of the summer. They were definitely cooler than leathers, but I still got home with a serious case of Betty Swallox.
I bought them with the armour and they’re fairly comfortable with it all fitted, but I have two small issues with it. Firstly I got them to use in warm weather, so surrounding my legs in what is basically dense insulation sort of defeats the point. Secondly the armour makes them less comfortable to walk in and I suspect that a faded outline of the armour would eventually wear into the leg ruining the “I’m a normal person, not a biker gimp” feature.
Finally protection. I haven’t crashed in them and I really don’t plan to. Ideally I would always wear them with the armour, but I doubt that’s going to happen. I can live with the slight discomfort on the basis that road rash and smashed kneecaps are going to be a lot more uncomfortable.
They were about £100 with the armour, but well worth it when I consider that some of my work colleagues will happily spend £150 on a pair of pre-distressed jeans made by some child in an Asian sweatshop, just because they have a designer’s name on them. ____________________ 2016 CBF1000F - Commuter heaven | 1994 CBR600FR - Awaiting defibrillation |
