I got the impression the serious height was show boating more than anything - good for sponsors, though .
When he went for the overtake near the end of the race, you'll note he wasn't quite as high and got the rear down quickly for good drive.
I also noted that one time he seemed to have the rear lift up at the bottom of the mountain - I wonder if his 'trick' was to really pump up the turn in speed? |

He got great traction off that last right corner before the mountain. So any loss of speed whilst airbourne was mitigated by the fact he pinned-it throughout that section.
And he looked comfortable t'boot.
Shame to rest of the circuit is too small for BSB bikes. ____________________ Diabolical homemade music Bandcamp and Soundcloud

It's a lot harder since they changed it.
As I say, I strongly suspect that he was using motocross style jump technique to get bigger air - as he didn't seem to be going that much faster, but was getting much bigger air.
Obviously speed isn't going to hurt either . |

I suspect its also something to do with the 'double level' of tarmac over the mountain - if you're caining it but not excessively you feel the front go light once, the rear squats and then the front goes light again.
Brilliant though ____________________ "Oh....it looks like Average Joe's is forfeiting the match!" - "Yeah, its a risky strategy but lets see if it pays off for 'em Cotton." |

This.
When I was there in May, he seemed to be seat bouncing, or preloading the suspension on the upslope to give him more pop/height over the summit. ____________________ My Flickr |

I only saw it today, but everyone seems impressed...it did look very good though. ____________________ Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter won't mind - Dr. Seuss |
