Dog pound is not a patch on Scum. They should have left it alone.

I never watched the remake of Taxi but Scum is a very British film and could never be remade with the same intensity and grit as the original.

Is this actually a remake as there's plenty of similar films? (i'm sure)

The 70/80s look of the films makes Scum even grittier which is perfect for this type of film, today it seems to be all about finding the perfect lighting which works against many films in this genre.

Will watch this 'Dog Pound' i'm quite fond of low budget unknown films so will probably enjoy it. Although the American accent already loses it points, can't beat the cockney accent in Scum.

I do agree with remakes in general a good example is The Warriors, it's up on IMDB so guess it's getting made.

There's no dolly mixtures in here poofters!

I fully agree with the cinematics of the 70/80's feel of Scum adding to the charisma of the film, plus American Accents are surely be full of 'yo 'yo cuz, why u steppin all up in my grill homie?'. Which hasn't got the same appeal as 'You fackin slaaaag' or the like.

Is there subtle lighting in the potting shed rape scene, thus transforming it into a tender moment of emotional manly bonding with one's smaller cellmate?

UP YOUR FUCKING BORSTEL!!!

Scum is quality, Dog pound sounds ok actually. I mean it gets over 6 out of 10 on imdb which is usually a good sign. Above 7 is great and above 8 are usually all damn good.

It's a good sign yes, but only when there's a few more (legit) votes, the film crew probably rates the movie at 10/10 but when people start seeing it that's when the ratings will probably drop.

78 people voted Dog Pound at 10/10 & 9/10...

Just looking and Inception seems to be #3 on IMDB with 179,000 votes. I don't think anything will ever get past Shawshank/Godfather on IMDB, Dark Knight got to the #1 position but then Shawshank/Godfather got a sudden rush of votes which pushed them back up. Laughing

The most talked about scene in the film, maybe? back in school everything talked about Scum but no one had it as the internet wasn't well known & video shops didn't stock it. Amazing to think you can just go on Youtube & probably find the scenes.

I watched the Dog Pound last night & Flip was correct, it is a remake. Smile Has all the major scenes from Scum, but it fails at all of them. I enjoy a lot of low budget & not particularly 'good' films but this one was very bad. The rape scene is so forced into the film it's silly.

Talking of young offenders, there was a really good programme back in 2002, just found it on Youtube. Out Of Control

I seem to remember seeing an American film in the eighties that looked like it was based on SCUM.
Does any one else remember this? All i can remember is the pool ball/sock scene had a pillow case and tins of cokeinstead.
I think the film was called BAD BOYS.

Actually SCUM was a remake Confused

Sad

I was looking forward to it being revealed there was a deleted scene with Will Smith running around smashing people up and telling them he's "the fackin' daddy".
