Is this actually a remake as there's plenty of similar films? (i'm sure)
The 70/80s look of the films makes Scum even grittier which is perfect for this type of film, today it seems to be all about finding the perfect lighting which works against many films in this genre.
Will watch this 'Dog Pound' i'm quite fond of low budget unknown films so will probably enjoy it. Although the American accent already loses it points, can't beat the cockney accent in Scum.
I do agree with remakes in general a good example is The Warriors, it's up on IMDB so guess it's getting made.

I watched the Dog Pound last night & Flip was correct, it is a remake. Has all the major scenes from Scum, but it fails at all of them. I enjoy a lot of low budget & not particularly 'good' films but this one was very bad. The rape scene is so forced into the film it's silly.
Talking of young offenders, there was a really good programme back in 2002, just found it on Youtube. Out Of Control |

I seem to remember seeing an American film in the eighties that looked like it was based on SCUM.
Does any one else remember this? All i can remember is the pool ball/sock scene had a pillow case and tins of cokeinstead.
I think the film was called BAD BOYS.
Actually SCUM was a remake ____________________ sup up your beer and collect your fags |

I was looking forward to it being revealed there was a deleted scene with Will Smith running around smashing people up and telling them he's "the fackin' daddy". |
