Fuel economy is going to be the big issue - modern sports bike aren't made to go slowly and you wont really find less weight and the same/more power from anything else.
Of course, if you want good fuel economy, the rider is often the biggest difference - unfortunately I enjoy the things that give bad fuel economy .
I have thought it'd be nice to upload a map to a bike like the GSXR (with multiple map switch) intended to give you much better fuel economy at the expense of fun. Perhaps with an 'over ride' for overtakes and the like. |

The RSV4 does around 8mpg more when its on not on Race mode, so it is possible to dual map a bike for fuel economy and power.
You can dual map with a Bazzaz, it just needs an extra add on.
And some car's can do that G, they go from 8 cylinders to 6 cylinders usually! ____________________ 2009 CBR1000RR

I don't know of any bike that does it.
The 5.7 Hemi in a Chrysler 300 can drop from 8 cylinders to 4 cylinders to save fuel

If you compare it to the zx9r, certainly - but go back a bit further to the zxr/zx7r and I'm not sure the position these days is more focused/less comfortable - just differently focused and possibly comfortable for different people .
I have a big sports bike to go quickly easily in a relaxed manner - thus getting something faster than my tuned zx9. |

I have been thinking about something along those mpg lines or a bit less - but maybe with 20 times the load capacity ... just need the licence!
Just had a look, didn't realise RX8s had got down to that level, but will stick to my beemer - though could consider something like the RX8 at some point as if you look at the amount I use it versus insurance paid, the RX8 may actually be more economic! |

Better off with a 350Z G, quicker, better handling, better on fuel
My Fireblade is very comfy, very quick, light, and does around 140 miles to tank, if you don't cane it everywhere (hence why I rarely do 140 miles to a tank!)
How much are you looking at spending out of intrest? I thought injection bikes were much more fuel efficient then carb'd bikes? ____________________ 2009 CBR1000RR

It's good to know that other people's ideal bikes don't always seem to exist either! I thought i was just me sometimes.
I still haven't found a bike that has a 1100-1400cc IL3 or IL4 engine, that has a short wheelbase like a factory streetfighter with a very upright position, reasonable styling and that looks light and pared down to the bone like a Spondon or Harris framed bike for example. Something like this with 150bhp/90ibft+ and is under 195kg's dry would be my best friend!
Something like an FZ1 or fugly new Z1000 is definately not though!
The CB1300 or a ZZR1400 engine would be the ideal kind of unit, but the CB13 as a bike is just a bit too heavy and not quite focused enough with fully adjustable suspension and sportsbike biased handling and braking. |
