I'm in a training centre at the moment.
Doing an NVQ and I'm here 3 days a week. My NVQ is almost complete and they can't dismiss me until March apparently, which I'm not happy about.
I'm unpaid so in a slightly different boat to yourself.
However the history currently comprises of BCF, eBay and WeMoto .
Cheers,
Steve |

A large amount of my working day is spent on BCF, a small amount on fleabay (usually looking for bike parts & DIY / garage kit etc).
Web based email and most gaming sites are filtered at work, so BCF is one of the few that I'm "allowed" to access ____________________ 1st bike (Sept'06 - May'10) : 1991 GPZ500S / Current bike (since Nov 2009) : 2003 Suzuki Bandit 600N

When you get the bike it'll be taken up by bits and bobs, endless stuff on how to maintain it and so on!
Judging from the posts on this forum it never ends |

Two Intel Xeon X5560 Processors (Quad Core with Hyperthreading and 8MB Cache, 6.4GT/s) - basically the server equivalents of the Core i7.
24GB DDR3 RDIMM RAM (x6 4GB Modules - x3 per processor for triple channel).
Radeon 5750HD PCI-E Graphics Card with 1GB RAM (Could have went more mad here, but dont play that many games)
x2 1TB SATA 7200RPM Drives in RAID1 Mirror
I'm considering moving the OS onto an SSD to speed things up.
It dual boots Windows 7 64-bit/Ubuntu 10.04LTS x64, disk based page file has been turned off in Win7.
Generally I'm pretty happy with it apart from the disk performance, that could be better, certainly for the OS/Select number of apps.
* edit was to clarify memory config. ____________________ Current Bikes: Honda CBR 600RR - '07, Suzuki GSX1250 FA ST '11

My desktop is upstairs and it's not too great so the less said about that the better.
My laptop however, I'm somewhat proud of.
Puppy Linux running on a Dell Latitude with 128mb Ram and 8mb graphics IIRC.
Cost me nothing and allows me to do my BCF thang in the Garage/workshop.

lol, having 3PB at home would be quite nice though, however there really is only so much porn you can keep!
The F3s are nice drives, quite quiet as well. I'll post some pics up of my box tomorrow (ones i have are pretty crap quality).
Nice overclock to nearly 5Ghz though Is that water or air cooled? ____________________ Current Bikes: Honda CBR 600RR - '07, Suzuki GSX1250 FA ST '11

It's air cooled robbie, I thought it would need water cooling myself and already had good air cooling in there and always run it with both sides off and I've usually always got a window open so the temparatures aren't too bad but I wanna put water cooling in there down the line.
|
Not bad then, seems like your getting a damn good speed out of that chip. Water cooled is prob better long term, but then if its not crashing it should all be ok.
I'm after a pair of these at some point;
https://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=47920
They'll drop straight in, then i'll have 12 cores/24 threads which should be quite nice. Just a question of when i can get hold of some really...
I've not tried to overclock the xeons are they're pretty expensive chips to fry, and the board doesn't really have good overclocking support as it's more of a workstation board.
| Quote: |
Nope, it's £2 more expensive to buy from there. Wink
The disk is £1.26 cheaper but the postage from aria.co.uk is £3.96 more expensive.
|
Fair enough, i'll go back to my hole ____________________ Current Bikes: Honda CBR 600RR - '07, Suzuki GSX1250 FA ST '11
