Right,
I'm bored of eating microwavable meals etc.
Can anyone suggest any easy meals I can make which are quick, simple and don't leave much washing up.
At the moment I can make beans on toast and put stuff in the oven. ____________________ MKGaming.com

Spaghetti and pesto. Trust me, its delicious and easy.
In case you need help on this.
1. Fill a kettle with water from the hot tap and plug it in and turn it on.
2. When it is boiled, pour it into a big saucepan and turn on the heat and bring the water back to the boil.
3. Add about 2 tablespoons of salt to the water. Sea salt is best but normal salt will do.
4. Open a packet of spaghetti, and take about a third of it and put it the pan of boiling water.
5. Bring water back to the boil, when its boiling again, lower the heat a little, but keep it on a rolling boil rather than just gentle simmer, just low enough so it doesnt boil over.
6. Cook spaghetti until it is 'al dente' this means with bite. ie soft enough to eat, but still a bit firm in the centre.
7. If you have a collander, put the collander in the sink, and pour the spaghetti into it. Empty the sauce pan into the collander but save a bit of the water in the sauce pan.
8. turn off the gas, but out the pan back on the cooker almost empty. Have just about half a mug of cooking water still in it.
9. Put the drained spaghetti back in the pan with the small amount of water.
10. Open a jar of pesto, and add about 4 tablespoons to the spaghetti and stir well.
11. When all spaghetti is fully coated, pour onto a plate.
I recommend aldi pesto. ____________________ colin1 is officially faster than god |

Urgh I wouldn't be impressed by prawns,
I'd rather have a Pot Poodle
Onions, mushrooms, peppers with added meat (not prawns) with either pasta or rice make a lovely quick meal with any variety of sauce (liking that szechuan at the mo), minimal washing up, yum yum. |

What no meat?
Mind you, you'd have no room for meat if you eat a 3rd of a pack of spaghetti at a time

Get some frozen chopped chicken (iceland) and nuke it for 4 mins. Boil up some rice.
Put rice and chicken in a wok with a touch of salt&pepper and plenty curry powder (makway) and an egg and fry the shit out of it.
Jobs a goo 'un
No need to wash the wok (just a quick wipe) and the rice pan only really had water in so it almost washes itself

Other than wiping your knife and work surface, this requires no washing up!
Cut a pitta bread in half, (Not split, but two pieces that will fit in your toaster), put cheese, onion, ham, salami, whatever fits inside.
Bung the pitta halves in the toaster, wait for pittas to be ejected by toaster, eat!
Preparation time 2 mins, cooking time 2 mins washing up time 20 secs!
I usually accompany this with some sort of pickle, (chillies usually), and olives.
And yes I know it's the poor mans Brevil, but with less mess!
Enjoy |

Pork steaks, grilled, bit of salt and pepper on 'em.
Have it with roast mediterranean vegetables. Sliced courgette, onions, peppers, mushrooms, garlic cloves all chucked in a roasting tin, bit of salt and pepper, drizzle of olive oil and a splash of balsamic vinegar. Chuck it in the oven for about 45-60 minutes.
Chuck it all on a plate and enjoy.

It works better IMO with fusil the pesto sticks to it betteri, I dry the pasta fully dump it in the pan with the pesto and have the heat on, this cooks the flavour into the pasta more. Once it is done cover it in cheese ____________________ Well, you know what they say. If you want to save the world, you have to push a few old ladies down the stairs.

Generally.
If you have to use more than one implement, more than one pan or more than one electrically operated gadget; then its not easy to make.
Tea or coffee is easy to make, toast is easy to make. This stuff with 11 steps is impossible to those of us who cannot boil an egg! Beans on toast it the limit, toaster, hob/microwave and thats it.
I think many things could be cooked in a kettle, for example, I feel certain you could do pasta in a kettle, just tape the button into the 'on' position. Same with eggs... Veg... Maybe hotdogs? Need to rinse out the brine probably.
I'm at the level where I can put the oven on but I'm unsure of the grill/fan option, I know a fan oven cooks stuff quicker (I think.) But why a grill/fan option?
