Right,

I'm bored of eating microwavable meals etc.

Can anyone suggest any easy meals I can make which are quick, simple and don't leave much washing up. Laughing

At the moment I can make beans on toast and put stuff in the oven. Thumbs Up

Eggs, bacon and sausages.

Requires one decent non-stick pan and some tongs. Anyone can cook them easily.

a.k.a. Pot Poodle cos it tastes like there's dog meat in it Wink

How about DIY curry/bolo/chilli?? meat, onions, mushrooms, spices, maybe even pre-prepared sauce, all dropped into one pan and left to simmer

Spaghetti and pesto. Trust me, its delicious and easy.

In case you need help on this.

1. Fill a kettle with water from the hot tap and plug it in and turn it on.

2. When it is boiled, pour it into a big saucepan and turn on the heat and bring the water back to the boil.

3. Add about 2 tablespoons of salt to the water. Sea salt is best but normal salt will do.

4. Open a packet of spaghetti, and take about a third of it and put it the pan of boiling water.

5. Bring water back to the boil, when its boiling again, lower the heat a little, but keep it on a rolling boil rather than just gentle simmer, just low enough so it doesnt boil over.

6. Cook spaghetti until it is 'al dente' this means with bite. ie soft enough to eat, but still a bit firm in the centre.

7. If you have a collander, put the collander in the sink, and pour the spaghetti into it. Empty the sauce pan into the collander but save a bit of the water in the sauce pan.

8. turn off the gas, but out the pan back on the cooker almost empty. Have just about half a mug of cooking water still in it.

9. Put the drained spaghetti back in the pan with the small amount of water.

10. Open a jar of pesto, and add about 4 tablespoons to the spaghetti and stir well.

11. When all spaghetti is fully coated, pour onto a plate.

I recommend aldi pesto.

Stir fry.......

You will need:-
One wok, one plate, one table spoon knife and fork. Oh and a stiring utensil. (it is a stir fry)

Go to Asda (or any supermarket) in the veg section you will find pre packed stir fry veg, sauce and noodles.

Pick them up, put in basket and take to till. Load them onto a conveyor belt and wait while the old lady infront pays for her bargain isle spam in 1p's. Do not ever forget to put the seperator on the belt as the Old woman infront will kill you.

Pay the lady/man (currently £2.50 for sauce noodles and veg at asda) and leave with your plastic carrier bag of joy.

Once home put your wok (or large frying pan) on a high heat an add a tablespoon of veg oil.

Once the oil is hot, take the lid off the veg and drop into the wok. Stir lots to ensure it all heats through.

After 2-3 minutes unwrap the noodles and add them.

Keep stiring for another 2 minutes.

Take the packet of sauce, snip the top off with scissors (ask an adult to help as scissors are sharp) and add it to the wok.

Stir for 30 seconds.

Tip the lot onto a plate and eat.

If you want to get really funky and impress ladies you can add such ingredients as chicken or beef. If its a really special occasion you could even add the delicacy known as prawns!

Bon appitit, Chef Fisty

yeah i tried that the other day off a website, its pretty good.

the recipe i saw also had an egg in it and a table spoon of oil

the time it told me was 3 mins, and it was a bit dry, so one and a half mins sounds better

not quite a meal, but a good snack

Urgh I wouldn't be impressed by prawns,

I'd rather have a Pot Poodle Very Happy

Onions, mushrooms, peppers with added meat (not prawns) with either pasta or rice make a lovely quick meal with any variety of sauce (liking that szechuan at the mo), minimal washing up, yum yum.

What no meat?

Mind you, you'd have no room for meat if you eat a 3rd of a pack of spaghetti at a time Smile

For a simple meat recipe, grab a handful of beef mince, squash it together like you are making a snowball, then flatten out to make a flat burger.

Fry on both sides and put between lightly toasted bread with a bit of mustard or ketchup.

Get some frozen chopped chicken (iceland) and nuke it for 4 mins. Boil up some rice.
Put rice and chicken in a wok with a touch of salt&pepper and plenty curry powder (makway) and an egg and fry the shit out of it.

Jobs a goo 'un Thumbs Up

No need to wash the wok (just a quick wipe) and the rice pan only really had water in so it almost washes itself Laughing

Other than wiping your knife and work surface, this requires no washing up!

Cut a pitta bread in half, (Not split, but two pieces that will fit in your toaster), put cheese, onion, ham, salami, whatever fits inside.
Bung the pitta halves in the toaster, wait for pittas to be ejected by toaster, eat!

Preparation time 2 mins, cooking time 2 mins washing up time 20 secs! Very Happy

I usually accompany this with some sort of pickle, (chillies usually), and olives.

And yes I know it's the poor mans Brevil, but with less mess!

Enjoy Smile

Pork steaks, grilled, bit of salt and pepper on 'em.

Have it with roast mediterranean vegetables. Sliced courgette, onions, peppers, mushrooms, garlic cloves all chucked in a roasting tin, bit of salt and pepper, drizzle of olive oil and a splash of balsamic vinegar. Chuck it in the oven for about 45-60 minutes.

Chuck it all on a plate and enjoy.

Very easy.

It works better IMO with fusil the pesto sticks to it betteri, I dry the pasta fully dump it in the pan with the pesto and have the heat on, this cooks the flavour into the pasta more. Once it is done cover it in cheese

Breakfast omelettes are the best.

chop some bacon, Sausage, mushroom and fry together until cooked then place at the side.

Same pan cook the omelette using 6 eggs. When the things allmost set add the cooked meat and mushroom mix. Throw some sliced tomatoes on top and fuck it under the grill to heat the tomatoes and cook the rest of the egg.

Rice dishes are quick and tasty.

One cup of rice and two cups of water in a pan. Boil gently for 12 mins or until water is completely absorbed.

While the rice is cooking fry some diced meat (I like lamb or chicken) in a mixture of olive oil and sesame oil. Add some frozen peas, soy sauce, pepper etc to your taste

One meal done in less than quarter of an hour.

The frying pan will clean up with just kitchen roll.

Generally.

If you have to use more than one implement, more than one pan or more than one electrically operated gadget; then its not easy to make.

Tea or coffee is easy to make, toast is easy to make. This stuff with 11 steps is impossible to those of us who cannot boil an egg! Beans on toast it the limit, toaster, hob/microwave and thats it.

I think many things could be cooked in a kettle, for example, I feel certain you could do pasta in a kettle, just tape the button into the 'on' position. Same with eggs... Veg... Maybe hotdogs? Need to rinse out the brine probably.

I'm at the level where I can put the oven on but I'm unsure of the grill/fan option, I know a fan oven cooks stuff quicker (I think.) But why a grill/fan option?

Thumbs Up
