Is it only on idle?
Kwaks do make a racket when idling. ____________________ Current : MSX 125 Past : CBR 900RR Monkeybike : c50 LAC : ZXR750 H2 : FZR600 : ZX7R P3 : YW100 : TRX850: Trophy 900 T309 : GSXR 600 L0: Monkeybike : XJ6S Whosthedaddy |

B Models are prone to the generator chain going slack and making orrible noises at tickover. Its probably that.
The people at www.zx-9r.net are a a very helpful bunch of folk.
Your headgasket will go soon. They do on a boringly regular basis on B models.

As I posted above, a ding every second or so would not be engine related.
I've stripped, built, tuned and big bored a lot of these B model (same as ZXR750 motor) engines. I know them inside out.
I currently have one I'm just finishing building right now, and believe me, they do not 'ding'

Ha ha, yes, I forgot that was you I got it from!!
That motor was full of water, the pistons were stuck solid in the barrells so I've had to replace it all.
I've had a couple more since then, too. fix up and sell on jobs, but this one sort of got put on a shelf and left for a while when I realised how bad the top end was. I actually binned the head altogether and have a real nice reconed one going on it. ____________________ ZXR750R (M2) - For the road.

It wasn't a problem, most of the other parts sold easy enough anyway.
I had most of the parts to fix it up, but sort of forgot about it for a while! Just dug it out recently and got a set of pistons for it, just need to get a head gasket for it now and it's ready to rock! ____________________ ZXR750R (M2) - For the road.
