Theory Test PASSED
49/50.... Happy with that
50/75.... Grrr still clicking too bloody early
But a pass is a pass... Let me at that DAS course
Already got a guy at work badgering me to sell him the CG for his nephew to learn on too
But the car must know, it spat its dummy out this morning and started making very ominous sounding noises from the front of the engine

Well I will be buggered, there's a pair of pulleys on the crank, outer held to inner with a ring of 6 13mm head (M8) bolts and 4 have fallen out, the remaining 2 were loose I threadlocked the bastards and torqued them up to spec
Now replaced, threadlocked and torqued to FT (Fucking Tight) I was turning the engine over by each and every one of them (a 2.8 straight 6)
Back to the bike, It's running sweet as a nut |

I'm really looking forward to my first day of DAS training on Saturday but in the meantime I will be mostly car-park pestering to try to improve my low speed balance, for some reason I'm much better at the left hand part of a figure of 8 than the right
Any tips for the low speed stuff?
Also the people I'm training with know full well I have a CG, £10 says they put me on one of the Yamaha SR 125's (they have 5 CG 125's and about the same number of SR's) |

I have just had the most boring ride on the CG yet, been on a 55 plate CG all day at Bikesafe, then for the last 20 minuets, a GS500
And apart from the obvious advantage of POWER, it feels much more stable too, nailed the figure 8 and U turn on the first attempt
Monday the 13th I have my MOD 1. |

Yeah there's 2 Dave's there, I've mainly been with Peter for the MOD 1.
Oh yeah, I passed that with 2 minors today in the pissing rain
I don't know why I was dumb enough to touch a white line on the U turn or missed an observation, nervous I guess
Mod 2 is booked in for the 1st of October |

Congratulations on the pass, thought it was a fail touching the white line though. Well done |

Psychofox, Crossing the line is a Fail, just touching it is a minor.
I can U turn that bike in not much more than half the allowed distance but I forgot to move forward on the seat and made an arse out of it for no real reason
Rob..
(copy and paste)
Pass or Fail?
The examiner is not looking for absolute perfection, just a good, safe, largely correct ride.
You are permitted to make up to 5 riding (minor) faults on the Module 1 Test and up to 10 riding (minor) faults on the Module 2 Test and still pass. Any fault regarded as serious or dangerous will result in a fail of that particular Module.
IIRC you can have 2 minors for any one thing but the third means a major = fail and the grand total can't exceed 5 on the mod 1. |

Ah the Life Saver on the U turn, we were told about that before we went and also that touching the white line was not the end of the world as long as the tyre did not clear the other side of it.
The check I missed was right at the end when I was told to just ride through the gate and park up, for a brief moment I thought I got away with it as the examiner was looking away, WRONG! the examiner was looking at the reflection in the office window.
I would have facepalmed myself if I had a free hand at the time.
Psychofox, go for it mate

Sue?
That's who I had, she was showing off her genuine Australian outback hat, good job it's been waterproofed, unlike my waterproofs which left me with wet arms, thighs and butt
She didn't do a dance though, it was already raining |
