I have skinny legs and knobbly knees. There, I've said it!

The knee armour in both my textile trousers and hood jeans dig in within a short time of wearing them. I got some more flexible armour for my textile trousers and that helps a bit, but short of putting little cushions or gel pads on them I don't really know what would help. Does anyone else have similar problems, and has anyone tried the armour that you wear directly around your knee rather than in a pocket or velcrod in the trousers. I'll check out my local bike shop next time I'm there, but they only have a limited range. Would much appreciate anyone else's experience, especially if you have similar issues.

I use Fly knee armour for green laning. It's hard, but has soft stuff on the other side for comfort. May be worth a look....

I've noticed loads of riders lately with thighs thinner than my fore arms wearing leathers that just flap about in the wind. What's all that about then?

Thanks folks. I'll check those out.

Skudd...um, no idea! I guess loose leathers are a bit better than no leathers. Male or female?

I can't even get kit to fit me correctly, so my knee pads on my textile trousers ride up my thighs when I'm riding...so totally pointless, and my leathers, well, I'm old skool, so I just have leather jeans without any protection.

But in saying that, they've faired pretty well in all accidents I have had. Still in one piece. Ancient though they are. Cool

No chance of that with me, my thighs are massive!

My problem with knee armour is it doesn't really fit over my knees, so it's kinda redundant. It doesn't dig in, but it doesn't really fit. Spada Milan textile trousers if you're wondering, I'm not into leather. My RS jacket armour fits where it should though. Feels very secure...

Ah, so the generic one size fits all of knee armour really isn't true.

I checked out the bike shop yesterday. One pair of Knox on knee pads made for a big bloke! Could get both knees in one and I don't think that would improve my riding. Rolling Eyes

I'd suggest trying a bike shop that is more MX/Offroad biased, as offroad armour tends to be available in varying sizes. I am OK with the armour inside my textiles and leathers, but I bought kids armour for trail riding. MX is aimed at all ages, so you may find that they have youth stuff that is likely to fit you better.

I've only got short legs but got a gut on me and I have found that, like in most clothing designs, the manufacturers rarely cater for us short legged people. They seem to think that because I have a 34/36 inch waist I must have a 32 inch inside leg. But its my gut thats gotten bigger not my legs.

As a result the knee armour on my leathers and textiles sit below my knees and dig in when I'm walking around. I find I have to pull the trouser legs up a little when I swing my leg over the bike so my knee sits in the armour padding comfortably. If I dont then its all kinds of uncomfy.

I found it's the opposite, motorcycle clothing actually fits me, everything else I need to wear fourteen belts to get the buggers to stay up :/ I'm not even tall, only 6ft

Do you struggle to find bikes that work with your little legs? My hubby rejected some just by sitting on them and he's a mighty 5'8"!

Dont know. Although the bike I learnt on was a cruiser style and low seated anyway and the current bike I find for both feet on the floor its tip toes only.

Getting on them wasn't the issue, it was how stable he felt riding them. Especially with someone on the back.
